Maybe next season?
They seem to have gone for powers that mostly affect any class. Maybe more class specific items will come next patch.

Well i guess barbs will get something, at this pace, by the time of season 20-21( hopefully lol). Mortick’s bracers while perhaps too good in the past, is quite obsolete now and doesn’t do much if anything at all for Barbs. What the class obviously needs is more damage(i emphasize DAMAGE). Not a numerical boost to set bonuses but their support class legendaries boosted, it’s obvious to everyone but devs may need another 2 patch cycles to figure it out ZZzzz…
I admire the patience of posters here, personally i moved on to Path of exile and may revisit this game again once they decide to fixbarbs, at least ww barbs in PoE(i.e cyclone) are absolutely devastating at the moment and melee feels better than ever after the latest melee patch.
P.S. I guess if i could make a small suggestion for this upcoming patch(Foolish i know but i still believe). Would be to remove the cap(5 target limit) on the Bracers of Destruction, it’s obsolete, unjustified, only serves to annoy barbs.
Well, I owe a debt of gratitude to Free and the barbarian community at large from the previous forums. They helped me get a WW barb off the ground. But I spent a season unable to get the right rolls on my weapons and, defeated, quit.
I’m back in Diablo now and am sad to see the views of the barbarian community here. Yet, what if I told you that despite hundreds of rat runs I’m feeling this urge to make a zdps charge barb, which the guides on the Barbarian forum refer to as being far less common in NA than in other regions.
Yet, I was watching a Korean rat run group and the role of the barb was just spectacular. In season 18 I would love to make a zdps charge barb for rats as well as a version for the ‘meta’ (which doesn’t seem like it’ll change much). I’d love to charge around in grift 150 pulling and stacking for the team, maintaining buffs and so on.
My question to you barbs is: have these new items changed anything? Will the barbarian community do what it usually does and provide (very useful) guides for players like me?
For what it’s worth, again, I always appreciate grouping with a good barbarian. I tend to add them to my friends list rapidly as they do indeed make or break games.
Hopefully the class gets the much needed love everyone apparently agrees that it needs, but until then, I hope the barbarian contributors on this forum know that there’s a fairly large (yet not vocal) group of people out there that love following or playing the class.
I’m not a Barbarian player, neither the developers are devoted ones I suppose. However, as I read from PTR patch notes Barbarians got nice tools to play around.
For example, I think Echoing Fury is now a perfect fit for Weapon Throw and Ancient Spear Barbs; fear procs will keep them at bay so you can pick them one by one. You also got your Mortick’s back for everlasting Ancients and Executioner for slaying instantly.
Rest of the changes to legendary items look like it’s only for zdps specs and defensive measures for certain classes, but they also synergize so good with newly tweaked Crafted Sets for a bigger impact if you look close enough.
I donno about you, but I believe changes to Barbarian is near and I’d expect changes on 1-handed mighty weapons this or next patch. I’m hoping for a Frenzy or Ancient Spear oriented spec that can be paired with other specs. Until then just enjoy the ride.
No, we didn’t. I’ve already discussed this at length.
We got nothing of practical use, nothing that addresses a single concern or weakness of the class.
You realize that Weapon Throw builds can’t effectively clear GR 95, right? Same for Ancient Spear? You realize we have no viable builds focused on those items, right? In what world would EF and Mortick’s suddenly elevate those skills into useful, viable, efficient builds?
We won’t be using Crafted sets. Even in zDPS builds, we may not use Crafted sets.
I’m already tired of this narrative: “It’s not so bad, there’s useful stuff here!”
Not for Barbs, bud. Take it from an expert.
There may be a few changes to zDPS builds, and a few tweaks to one or two speed-farming builds, but nothing will be fundamentally shaken up. As previously noted, this patch offers nothing of real worth for Barbs.
Amen!
Just tried the new mortick bracers a bit with Hota and WW. It seems better strangly enough for Hota(for me at least) than for WW. And it kinda looks like it was made for WW.
So the damage output is nice, nothing to write home about.
I do think the damage mitigation right now with these bracers on to be good. I feel a lot less squishier than before.
Just a reminder I am a very casual player with low end gear and low augments. And I think for what is currently normal a low paragon too
Nev claims it’s for the largest number of players, but which segment of the player base was kept awake at night dreaming of a re-work of Cain’s set? Who desperately needed a reworked Crimson’s?
At what point in the patch process did someone sit up and say, “You know, giving Messerschmidt’s Reaver an affix is more important than addressing the concerns of the Barb community?”
To be honest, these are the question that I would like Neva & dev team to anwers? Guys, why did you do these for? So you wasted time on some crafted sets that really really only a few use instead of balancing ? I love Diablo 3 but I can’t understand, why don’t they do a poll with what to add & so on, why are they not transparent? Why are you screwing it all the time?
The reason is they aren’t auto-salvage, they also didn’t do anything for all the other classes. The imbalances remain the same as last season. I am guessing balance is just not happening this patch and there will be a large overhaul next patch. Anyone wanting to sit a season out, this is probably the season to do so.
It’s not just about you guys here, monk is severally underpreforming as well, necro and wiz overpreforming, plenty of set imbalances left, we’ll have to wait for Nev’s blog post but I guarantee you there just wasn’t enough time to tackle all these this patch and instead they decided to make 8 legends not auto-salvage anymore and come up with a seasonal theme that didn’t further skew the imbalanced classes.
It was a quick fix and yes you guys got thrown a bone with Mortick’s in the meantime. One item should never fix an entire balance problem of a ~8-10 GR discrepancy. That one item would literally have to be 10x stronger than anything else in the game, just not realistic.
If you equip Mortick’s Brace, that means you need Bracers of the First Men in the cube, which means you lose Magefist (20% fire damage) from the cube. If you cube Mortick’s Brace, you lose Magefist from the cube. So, either way, you’re giving up 20% fire damage on a build that makes use of the fire rune of HotA, just to get access to the non-Insanity runes of WotB. I don’t think that’s a good idea, especially when the build is already a pretty tanky one (damage split between you and your ancients, and 80% mitigation from Band of Might).
Every class OTHER than Barbarian can outperform Barbarians. With at least one build. They also got less clunky game mechanics, requiring either a lot of practice or perfect gear. That should not be an issue for one class alone. So no. Was about time they brought Barbarian upwards with the others. Not buffing all of them leaving them yet again in the dust.
I don’t think naksiloth was referring to these things as being endgame viable, but rather to be “nice tools to play around” with as he mentioned, for example for LoN builds and/or (fun) builds that are not meant to compete, so his statement makes very much sense.
awaiting on the next blue reply … if any so i can quote and call more BS
to everyone who provided maths, suggestions, ways to improve and such… thank you but sadly, you have just wasted your time
Most definitely. There’s always a reason behind selection bias.
Guys, let’s have patience.
Just like anywhere else, there is something called “schedule”.
Most likely the 2.6.6 patch has been in development since March or April (in my opinion) and when it comes to development, not all things can be solved by simply adding numbers. There are 7 classes and they need to think of ways to balance them all, which obviously leads to the alteration of the original proposals.
Still, a lot of things have been added and in my view. To me, they’re saying "Hey, we are listening to you, however, due to the time we have, we’re not been able to deliver everything that has been proposed by the community, at least not the way we would like and that would make sense in the game ".
Just remember how long it took to insert the search engine into the tabs to understand what I’m talking about.
Obviously, criticism must exist and should be encouraged, but I think there should be a little more caution in the pre-judgments.
No need to tip over the salt shaker I say.
Burden of WW build prevent them from buffing it further; so don’t expect a direct damage increase on that spec. They have to decide if they remove visual clutter and give you a buff or redirect you at the other specs by pairing them. Easy to type it down but takes time to play test properly.
It occurs to me they still need time to test away the waters about the Barbarian class. If not at this patch, you’ll get what you ask for next patch as Mortick’s is a clear sign that they heard your call.
Sadly, barb hearing “next patch” is an every patch thing.
That is a foolish thought. Barbs have been waiting for YEARS for a decent balance update. YEARSSSSS.
Please tell me how many more years barbs must wait for quality changes??
The barb proposal literally told them exactly what needed to be changed, why it needed to be changed and what to change it too. All they had to do is take 20 minutes and read the proposal.
Barbs didn’t necessarily need class balance this patch. The problem is they got nothing last patch and are basically getting nothing this patch. This is a weird trend Blizzard has been following as it pertains to Barbarians.
I know the female Barbarian avatar is a redhead… but does the class really need to be treated like the unwanted redheaded step child?
