2.6.6 Barbarian Community Buff Proposal

Well, a lot of players have been asking for years to fix crafted sets (they are pretty much useless) and add some affix’s to legendaries that don’t have them.

What they should have done is add these along with some of the Barb fixes from list 1 or whatever they plan on doing for the barb. If this was too much for 1 week, they could of ran the PTR 2-3 weeks. If they did not want to push the next season back, do a couple of the general items (crafted sets and affix-less legendaries) mixed in with a few of the Barb things they want to test.

The problem is, if they do a pure Barb PTR next time, Barbs will be happy and most other classes will not. It would be much better if they gave each kid 1 or 2 toys to play with, rather than giving all the toys to a couple of the kids and telling the rest they will get theirs later. I appreciate they are supporting this game at this stage, but they need to put a little more thought into what they are doing.

Agreed 100%! This would have stymied most of the disappointment and backlash.

But remember: Barbs got nothing last patch. Nothing. Not a single item.

The one before that, 2.6.4, all we got were increase set numbers. And all that did was maintain the disparity with other classes. Before that, we got a slight re-work to Battle Rage, which made our builds a little stronger, and a nerf to a skill rune no one, ever, used. Go back further: 2.5 changed the Rumble rune, which has done nothing except serve as an alternative Fury dump. Go back to 2.4.3 and you’ll see that two of our items were tweaked to be–you guessed it–totally useless. If you dig through those patch notes, you’ll see that–yet again–we didn’t get any of our supporting legendaries addressed.

Don’t believe me? You can look it up yourself:

The patch notes don’t lie.

These are not opinions.

Barbs have gotten nothing of worth for over two years.

So, to be honest, if next three patches were all Barb, well, we got it coming.

Of course, given the trend indicated by the patch notes, it may very well be 2025 before Barbs receive any meaningful buffs.

How about any of the things we want? Last PTR, when we asked why there were no Barb changes, we were told to wait for the next PTR. Well, it’s now that next PTR and literally the only thing we got is a set of bracers? How many seasons in a row do you intend to just ignore Barbs?

I’m actually pretty excited for the general use items finally getting attention. I’ve been asking for a legendary power for Stone of Jordan and other items forever it seems like.

However, I keep coming back to what was said last patch… Barbarians were the only class to receive no buffs to legendary items. Someone specifically said Barbarians will get their much needed love next (2.6.6) patch.

So where’s the love?

  • Nothing for Fjord Cutter?
  • Nothing for Remorseless?
  • Nothing for 300th Spear?
  • Nothing for Arreat’s Law?
  • What was the point of updating Saffron Wrap several patches ago?

Just… ugh. All I wanted was a couple of updated items like every other class got last patch.

It’s worse than that, Jako. See my post above yours: It’s been over 2 years since Barbs received any meaningful buffs.

The irony that this thread starts with a quote saying they couldn’t get to barbs last patch isn’t lost on me. Maybe “barb buffs next patch™” is the new d3 meta?

Hey presto, Soon™

Will edit my comment when back at a pc. Thank you.

Has it been that long? Damn that’s depressing. I guess I don’t notice it as much since I do try to play other classes…

I’m kinda bummed. Been a rough summer. Didn’t get to play much because I’ve been so busy and stressed out. Was hoping this next patch would drop after I got passed all of that and that it would deliver…

Mais c’est la vie, n’est-ce pas?

You have to remember that this game is running on a skeleton crew for over two years now, so you can’t really expect much.

At least that is how I settled. I like to theorycraft, throw ideas around and discuss with others about it, but not primarily with the expectation of them being implemented, but mostly just for the fun of it because I like it.

I mean you can try to continue to push it, but you are not the first one who has come up with things that would greatly improve the game. The community is throwing around ideas since years (including the last two) on how to improve the game - from minor adjustments to medium or even large changes - on almost a regular basis and little of it has been implemented, so your expectations might be too high, as frustrating and disappointing this might be for you and others.

They had time to work on Crafted items and new Leg Gems, but had no time for Barb Buffs. They really didn’t do anything for us except wipe off some old bracers they had store in the outhouse.

I understand that they cant simply make the whole patch about the barbarian, because other classes would feel left out for a whole patch cycle, but this is a complete joke.

Proposal 1 is so simple and i dont see how it would pose a huge load of work to the developers, when they even introduce whole new items, legendary gems to the game. It is a cheap excuse for what i can only see as lazyness and not actually listening to what the players want.

Barbarians (and monks) have been overlooked for so long. When i compare the Barbarian to the necromancer it feels like im playing a leftover character from early RoS.

But why lie in our face and tell us that the barbarians are getting looked at in the future after being neglected for so long and then do nothing, but resurrect an old item?

It would have been so easy, the dev team wouldnt even have any work to do to come up with own ideas how to buff the barbarian, WE ALREADY DID THAT OURSELVES.

My only conclusion is that they simply dont care, but i dont see why. I like the changes they made with new affixes, season bonus, new leg gem. They are all really nice changes. I just dont understand it…

I am waiting for Nev’s blogpost and if i cant see any reasonable arguments for this situation or a positive outlook for the future this will be the last time i will open this forum and also the game.

Which would be valid if they hadn’t had time to buff any of the other classes during that two year period. Barbs aren’t wanting to be better than other classes, they just want a chance to be anywhere near on par with the other classes. Two years is too long to expect that, especially when other classes continue to get attention.

The only reason I can think of, why no love
for Barbs is, are Barbs the least played out of all the classes???

Exactly. They had the time to create a new leg gem and new affixes for old items, but they couldn’t buff some numbers on our existing legendaries?

I don’t buy that at all.

Look, maybe they’re really gonna put some effort into our class next patch, and if that’s the case, cool, I’m happy to wait for it. But what we got this round–and every round for the last two years–has been diddly squat.

Absolutely!

Absolutely!

Hold on. We haven’t gotten anything meaningful for well over two years.

Barbs got nothing last patch. Nothing. Not a single item.

The one before that, 2.6.4, all we got were increase set numbers. And all that did was maintain the disparity with other classes. Before that, we got a slight re-work to Battle Rage, which made our builds a little stronger, and a nerf to a skill rune no one, ever, used. Don’t believe me? Look it up under the Game Guide, patch notes.

It’s been years since Barbs received a single meaningful change that didn’t just maintain the status quo.

If Barbs are the least played class, it’s because we’re the weakest with the most outdated items.

I agree with you.
Barb was my go to at one time, but I deleted most,
and only kept one, and a bunch of items, hoping
for some big change.

I know, but that was apparently what the skeleton crew was working on.

Also, since it likely is the Classic Team working on D3 atm, they probably only work on D3 when they are not working on other stuff like Warcraft 3 Reforged since that most likely has a much higher priority than D3, so D3 is eventually more like a side project for them and no proposal or idea, no matter how good it is or how bad we want it is going to change something about that.

My point is that this is a phenomenon that is going on for many years with D3, not just with this proposal, so I honestly wouldn’t expect too much change in that regards.

This is just sad. I was excited to see Mortick`s come back but then i was like - Wait, is that it? I hope they got something more coming for barbs because this feels like a bad joke.
