Using exploits, bugs, macros not bannable now?
Thatâs between the team that rules on these issues and the players involved. None of my business.
Not directing this next bit at you per se, but Iâm seeing a lot of ableist nonsense on the forums lately about macros. In one of these threads, someone was arguing that a 70 year-old dude with bad arthritis shouldnât be able to play a top-tier build or something like that.
Yâall, people with disabilities deserve access to the game, and if macros help with that, so be it. You canât rule on every macro because you donât know every individualâs circumstances. All this hoo-ha about macros like theyâre the end of the world fails to take into account how they might make the game much easier and more enjoyable for folks with disabilities.
I get weâre all bristly with the way this patch has been handled, and rightly so, but letâs please be more considerate in thinking beyond our own circumstances when it comes to adjudicating for things that might make the game more welcoming to people with disabilities.
Hyperbolic phrasing causes streamers and youtubers to have more interest than they would normally. Ad companies do this a lot as well, usually with spam scamming.
I saw in his âAoV Crusâ stream that he uses a macro for yellows upgrade in a cube (full bag in seconds) using a third-party software (CubeConverter) - this is obviously not a gameplay ever and definitely against EULA
I have made a point before; I have something related to arthiritis, but it isnt, I just dislocate joints quite often and I have enough problems from a cancer to be considered disabled, do I use macrosâŚ, no. Do I play one button builds, yes.
The reason is simple, less stress on joints and my poor brain.
Macros are not something I use. Do not get me wrong, I know how to write them. You do not have a lot of computer knowledge without something like that being in it. But claiming they are needed to enjoy a game like D3, that I do not buy. And this IS speaking from the standpoint of someone that is not as good as he used to be.
I remember when wastes set came out: I got myself almost into a Carpal Tunnel problem. If there were some shortcuts programed right into the game core for example for WW we dont have to circler our wrists but pressing a keyboard or a mouse shortcut, it carried out the circular motion without needing to move the mouse.
That would give some health back to people before they ruin their wrists.
Allowing WW to just sit in one place. That is admittedly the thing that has annoyed me the most overtime.
It does not cause issues for my wrist since the cause it different, but the rubbing of my pinky on the desk causes me to dislocate it. I have been looking into a type of mouse that would help with it (at a doctorâs suggestion).
https://www.amazon.com/Evoluent-VM4R-VerticalMouse-Ergonomic-Connection/dp/B00427TAIK
It would take the problem off of my pinkie and possibly my other fingers as well.
They dont really work as advertised man. At that time, I bould as flat mouse as possible. I looked for and found some research. Doctors are actually suggesting flat mice.
I bought something comfortable and not too high. Logitech G403
is the latest one I bought. No pain in wrists anymore.
I have been contemplating that one as well. Part of my problem with most current mice is how my fingers sit on them. That one seems more similar to the ones I could get before laser came out. Yes, I am refering to ball mice.
There are some flat mice with a largened base extensions where you can lay your fingers. I dont remember a brand but some brands even had those skirts that you can opt to install or remove. They may work as well.
I remember seeing those, I think one was a logitech, but I am not going to claim to be right.
Really, I should just run to the computer store and see what they have on display. Me and money do not part easily these days though and I keep delaying because of that.
btw bug-using to rank 1 is fine now or what?^^
The bug with Fjord Cutter is being patched out, so it will not work with any skill except Slam (as it was intended).
There are players with even more restricted movement than your own. Is it really a problem if they use macros?
I understand how you can have a problem with macros if an able-bodied individual uses them to gain some significant advantage in the game. But other than seeing this kind of thing on a stream, how can you be sure thatâs whatâs going on?
You see my point? Iâm arguing that we need to be more sensitive to people with disabilities, and understand the way we play the game may present to them some major obstacles. If macros help to solve it, by all means, macro away.
For the record, Blizzard has, to my knowledge, never banned for the following:
- Macros
- TurboHUD
- Num Lock
There is verifiable proof that they have banned for botting, though obviously most botters still find ways around detection.
i know i read the blueposts, i meant that darkpatator could be banned for bug-using or something because he did it on purpose
a little sad that fjord-cutter and remorseless arenât buffed further hopefully that will happen in the future
well turbohud is a little fishy they should ban on that but then again the limited manpower is better used giving us some changes
Dark has stated SS can still do 140 w/o the bug though, and Iâm betting with 150% mod Rend can still too.
Seems pretty balanced to me, but I still think SS should do more damage than Rend, otherwise whatâs the point? Everyone would just run Rend for everything? Buff SS damageâŚ
Nah if anything the devs should thank him for exposing the bug, basically with the Era resets and S19 not active yet live = PTR phase 2 atm so nothing done right now on LBs really matters much.
him doing gr 140 with 11k paragon doesnât proof anything and also many classes did 140 with less paragon
while barb was far behind (15grâs behind wiz last season, eu)
so it should be no problem for barb getting buffed 2-3 grâs in front of wiz in future patches
also kinda offtopic: would a statsquish be a good idea to push our gr clears back down to give is more room for changes/experimental buffs + reduce lag
Itâs a benchmark though, I donât see why players get so rattled by paragon. Itâs all just math for the most part, like who really cares. See a super high not achievable paragon in seasons? Okay, just calmly do the math vs your paragon maybe +1/-1 GR for variance and baam you get what xxx paragon should be doing.
Itâs not a big deal, I donât see why people get so triggered by it. I understand why players do not like the system, thatâs a whole different story and I really hope D4 has something different. But for now, weâre in D3 and itâs here and we have to deal with it.
You got me thinking.
My stance is that someone should not be using macros to just get ahead.
IF however, someone is legitimately just using them to make up for a physical problem, I can see that being okay.
That also brings up the problem of, is the person doing it legitimately or not. Would you need to petition for the right, but then how do you prove it and how does the company know you are not lying?
I know I have a harsher stance, but I have an utterly nasty view on bots. Unfortunately, the same program that is used for macros is also used for bots. This is, once again, how do you tell the difference.
The IK frenzy build I referenced earlier is pretty simple (not competitive at all, even with frenzy LoN). You just throw out the occasional bash that Blade of the Warlord turns into a spending skill and so knocks down the timer on WotB. But, it is very hard to mix frenzy and bash together. So I wrote a macro that would do it for me by randomly throwing out bashes.
Does that count as a cheat macro? I do not know; I have done the build as a way to do the IK mastery without the macro. However, the next season I had the items to do HotA/IK and did it faster and more easily.
However, people at the super high end using it to do effectively impossible (for everyone) combos to do better, that is where in my book it does stray into the range of cheating.
But this is all opinion. Blizz has never said their stance clearly and I cannot claim to be an expert on it.
Iâll have you do my math for meâŚI always sucked at it.
