"0" zero post topics

Lately I have noticed there are way too many topics from “0” post players. I’m sure some are legit, but I would suggest that too many of them are trolls.

Now for my question: Can someone explain why they would troll with such diverse, sometime stupid topics? What is the reasoning?

You go through the trouble to create a character, then come here at the forum, post a stupid question to troll this forum, and then what? What do you get out of it? Is there some sort of monetary reward that I’m unaware? I can see if you are advertising another game, site, product. But most of these trolls just that! Trolling just to get a reaction.

Can anyone enlighten me please?

I suspect they are sock accounts from several individuals who-shall-not-be-named.

Some people are stuck at home with nothing better to do. I personally think some of them are alt accounts. The forum has had an influx of “0” post the last few weeks. A lot of them also appear to be necromancers who are bringing back dead threads for no beneficial reason. Others are just a total waste of time.

Hmmm… Yeah, no. I think none of them are legit. If there’s any legitimacy at the beginning the troll posts in weight just nullified this credit.

Jokes on us, I guess? It’s just time consuming.
At first it started with necroing topics to gauge reactions. Later it was at the guise of “jaded old fans” that demand free trading everywhere that hit by a grand measure of contradiction. Then it took a turn to diverse threads with questions that go nowhere.

I think that someone with too much time at their hand trying to test their trolling skills on different sock puppet accounts. My guess is, it’s just because they’re not happy with their gathered reactions on their main account as it loses effectiveness and people can tell already.

When a simple explanation like this is sufficient, it’s probably not necessary to look for a more complex one. Here’s a “documentary” that explains their behaviour…

Zero post threads are mostly alts IMO. (Alt accounts require multiple copies of the game. My mistake.)

As far as zero post necroing, a trust level requirement of 2 to post on a 1+ month old thread would be a welcome change. TL3 could necro any age thread, but are subject to TL demotion if their post is ruled as bumping.

In general I do not see anything inherently wrong with a “0” post. We all started with a “0” post at one time. The problem I see with a few (not all) of them is the lack of functioning brain cells. Is common sense a thing of the past. I also see a lot of the “I do not care” attitude which is typical in society today.

There’s nothing wrong with legitimate 0 posters, yes we all started there. It’s the individuals who fire up an alt account and intentionally create controversial threads to splash toilet water around that I don’t care for.

I thought you need to buy D3 to access the forum. Are you implied these posters actually have more than 1 Diablo 3 copy? That is hardcore. Didn’t know that they willing to throw money to Blizzard just for the extra D3 forum access.

Yeah I forgot about that… Apologies… Thinking the D2 forums. My mistake. Updated post.

You can’t access D2 forums without having a D2 copy confirmed to your battle net account either. And ain’t multi-boxing a thing from very first release of D3 already? But sure, go ahead.

Well D2 is a bit of a different story… There are a bunch of people with tons of CD keys they can use to fire up a different account, or post with an account that has never posted. (Botters mostly)

That kind of applies to any game you can think of. How many special editions of Skyrim out there and how well do you think they sold? If there are multi-box users for D3, nothing should surprise you as chest of D3-RoS go into sale almost regularly now.

That makes sense as most of such topics are demands for free open trade in D4. Who is interested in that? Botters. And yes, they have multiple accounts always.

Because they get off on reactions like yours.

Plus it’s the same bunch of credit card warriors + botters who keep demanding free trade in D4, and they make sock poppet accounts to create the illusion that there’s far more of them lol.

Just look at who keeps liking their posts, and you’ll find out who’s alt it is. It’s always the same people who bump the stupid trade threads.

Thank you for all your explanations. It now makes sense. Although I believe Blizzard could easily remedy this type of trolling.

I like the idea of free trade with friends or when I bump into a decent player in a public game. Oh you are looking for a blablabla? I have 4 copies in my stash. I would link them or place them in the trade window and ask which one they want. Something along those lines. Yes, I get it, not everyone will take a legitimate approach to open trading, see D2 from start till now as a good example.

I have very low posts (don’t even know how to check) and I want trading. In fact I specifically came here to read about how people feel about it.

Just because someone might come here to post and express their opinion (that isn’t the same as yours), doesn’t mean they are a bot.

Edit: oh look that was my first post on the d3 forum

Some people want open trading.
Others say “no. Open trading leads to CC Warriors” (with D2 as evidence)

Personally- I want the ability to donate my slightly used ilvl 35 Manticore to a new clanmate. I don’t want CC Warriors to have the ability to acquire GG BiS gear by not playing the game.

As such, I’m OK with Limited Trading.
