Ok, I’m using a vipermagi at the moment but the defense on it is pretty bad and I get hit all the time in hell.
Looking to up my armor, got some runes and I can make Duress, Gloom and Lionheart.
Have a 3 socket wire fleece with 405 base defense. Lionheart doesn’t come with any EDef, so its bottom of the pile in terms of potential.
Any suggestions between Duress and Gloom? I’ve not used either before… at level 75 now.
For a Zealer, my vote would go to Duress, but would be curious what others think. Good defense, but also boosts your damage and adds crushing blow chance.
Thanks - I’m torn because Gloom has loads of resist and higher def, but yea those other procs on Duress is looking good with the 45 fhr… argh, can’t decide and I only have 1 um rune 
Zealot runeword chest? Chains of Honor. +2 to skills, +65 to all resists. Adds a lot to damage in PvM as well
Yea, I’d do that if I have the runes. Only have the runes for either gloom, duress or lionheart…
For what you have go with Duress (assuming you are hitting resists levels) the crushing Blow and Open wounds are great for a Zealot. There are plenty of uniques that work too, I still have a soft spot for Guardian Angel, I love having 90+ resists to everything.
Thanks. Yea I bit the bullet and did a Duress. Seems to work good so far - the FHR really helps as does the defense. This really made a difference in terms of staying alive tanking mobs in Hell compared to my Viper.
You can also cube the vipermagi into wyrmhide which puts it around 700-800 def
