You all know what I’m about to say next: I lost a lvl 85 Amazon in HC Ladder last night because of constant connection problems with BNet servers.
Not here to ask to have the character put back, though I’ll say the experience kills the fun of creating hardcore ladder characters. If you can’t deliver the game experience at the price point, why offer it?
But actually it’s not even that, I’m playing solo right now in ladder, softcore, and I still get these connection issues. So I’m not upset that I’m losing HC chars, now I’m just upset the play experience is subpar on honestly just this one issue. Otherwise the game is actually great.
Every service on the internet is like this these days. You have to pay for the entire infrastructure and run it yourself because no amount of money you throw at the executives are good enough.
Went through this whole process with my ISP today - putting me through an entire gauntlet just to get a reasonable price for my internet subscription. Everywhere you go it’s this nonsense.
Somebody has to pay for daddy’s new Porsche before our dear jet-setters wrap it around a tree somewhere.
Such a joke.

There are a couple of options that you have:
1: Play “hardcore” on softcore, and when a death isn’t your fault, you can keep playing. If a death is your fault, you immediately delete the character. Willpower is a requirement.
2: Play local single player, which eliminates internet connection issues that can cause hardcore deaths.

First idea is kinda genius honestly
What if… and now just hear me out…
What if this multibillion $ corp pulled their head out there a and just fixed their game. I mean they had no problem taking our money and offering hardcore ladder as a game mode.

What if… Blizzard owned the entirety of the internet? Then every time you experienced a connection problem, it would indeed be their fault.

i don’t understand why the game keeps your character with disconnected client for so long in the game.
lost a smiter this ladder due to PC freeze during izual fight. That dude was tanky with barb BO and Shout (>4k life, 75% block, 22k defense, lvl 92) and i’m sure he could stand there and tank for good 20 seconds before dying. I’m not really salty about that, it’s my fault for installing new RAM and not testing it properly - and this death made me fix it.
But all blizzard needs to do is, if there isn’t any packet from your client for say, 5 seconds, you are instantly kicked.
I’m very pissed all well.
This is a joke. Never been so bad experience blizz servers…even free server are better…
Blizz seems to dont care at all about what made her sucess…
Blizzard has been giving hardcore characters back in other games. You might as well ask. It’s not like blizzard has integrity.

Why would you play HC online?
Obviously you forgot Buzzards been cheeping out on server space for
decades
I know that some people will say anything, even if it’s blatantly false just to try and make themselves feel better about their unfavorable situation. Misery loves company.
Keep rolling with the crappy server theory if you want to. It’s easy for the tech lay person to latch on to.
I’m actually wondering if they were hit with a mini-DDoS earlier. The connection was dropping left and right to the point that the client finally got dropped back to the logo screen and was input-frozen. That is, the graphics were going just fine as was the sound, but no input whatsoever could get me off the title screen. I had to ALT-F4 out of the app ungracefully. Hopefully it’s better now. Guess I’ll know when I try a few games.

As usual Troll on…
Too Many Words
Playing HC online is a meme. You will never, absolutely never, play any game online with 100% connection certainty. Playing a game mode that’s based on precision in an online mode while an offline mode is available, is asinine. Anyone playing HC online goes in knowing full well that connection issues can occur at any moment. This is true for ALL online games, not just D2R.
Full blown sarcasm mode engaged:
No, the internet is perfect, it has never and will never have any connection problems for anyone… Ever. Any connection problems ever experienced or that have yet to be experienced worldwide are due to Blizzards crappy Diablo 2 servers, including prior to and long after the servers existence.
Sarcasm mode disengaged.
One thing to keep in mind with this is that the restoration was (hopefully) a one-off. It was a tactical decision on Blizzard’s end and was given to the players as a gesture of goodwill because the characters lost were due to a targeted DDoS specifically aimed at killing WoW hardcore mode characters (though it had a knock-on effect on all of Blizzard’s games at the time). This is not something Blizzard expects to be the norm, though Blizzard will be dealing with such occurrences on a “case by case” basis.
