Finally I found a Lo and promptly made a PB Grief. I don’t have a second sword yet but plan to make Oath or Death. If I use a Balrog blade which has a long range, which should be the main weapon and which off hand? I don’t have another Lo for a second Grief.
i would usually suggest keeping the highest damage in your main hand when you switch to conc or zerk.
However…there is a bug in the game which may force a weapon in your main hand - based on a strength bug it seems. if you don’t have enough base str to equip the weapon (using other gear and/or charms to equip). If you have a phase blade and a balrog blade, i’m pretty sure the phase blade will likely be forced in main hand.
Don’t make a death for WW, it will attack super slow. WW speed breakpoints only take IAS from that specific weapon into account.
And to answer your different range question it won’t really matter as long as your WWing through enemies and not having in the specific range where 1 can hit and the other can’t. Longer range OH will only enable you to possibly get extra hits with that weapon, won’t effect your MH at all.
Hello, do you know how this strength build could be fixed because it’s stupid to overspend stats for strength as I am using some gear and charm to equip my weapon - balrog blade
If you’ve put too many points into an attribute then the only way to change that is to respec - either using the 3 Den of Evil quest reward respecs from Akara or using a token of absolution.
Strength can still be useful for a Barbarian as there is a small %damage buff so depending on how many extra points you put in, game mode, and how much vit you’re still able to end up with, it may not be worth respecing over, only you can decide.
Back before they added respecs to the game some people would recreate a whole new character to optimize skill and stat placement, others would let it ride as long as their build was still functional.
Basically you exchance 2 life for 1 damage. I have a hard time understanding why a Barb should run around in softcore with 5000 health, when he is just as safe with 3800 life, max resists, high lifeleech and some damage reduction.
I take those 1200 life and exchance them for 600 damage, and it is noticable improvement. From 3100 Frenzy swing to 3700 Frenzy swing is a big improvement. The all vit approach is for hardcore, and for some reason copied by softcore. Meanwhile Barbs complain they don’t do enough damage.
Death works fine with ww if you have fast weapon in off hand(4frame legacy, 8-9frame resurrection not sure). Ww follows off hand weap speed first. There are many article for ww mechanism, it’s bit tricky and long you should google it. Bottom line is you use slow weap in main hand(above the gloves), fast weap in off hand(above the boots) and start spin close enough from your targets.
sorry about this, this may be off-topic… but I was just about to ask…
If I want to use Swords (Colossus Swords/Blades in particular)…
Is Grief + Last Wish good? I just don’t really see the need for 2 Grief’s
Last wish is too slow for WW. You’d need 39% IAS, on-weapon-only, to get the max hits per second on a colossus blade. Last wish doesn’t have any IAS, so I wouldn’t do that. You need even more IAS on colossus sword to hit the max breakpoint, so it would be a very bad choice for either runeword.
Colossus Blade is a tough choice for for Grief - You have a slim chance to get a near perfect roll of 39-40% IAS or it’s a waste. Consider phase blade, any IAS roll for Grief will work on those. (still not last wish).
Berzerker axe for grief is another option (PvP), same range as sword with lower requirements - still need 34% IAS for Grief though. (Grief rolls 30-40 IAS…)
Berserker axe has a range adder of 2 vs. a PB range adder of 1, so it actually has better range. Avg damage is significantly higher for RW that care about that (Grief doesn’t), but the speed issue you mentioned is definitely real, and PB also has no durability which is cool, but also means it can never be eth for RW that have indestructible mod to take advantage of it.
I meant sword, as in two-handers, not PB
Ah sorry, my mistake
