now the game drops the same mancatcher base every time. I have around 4 now. Hurts mor.
Yeah, it sucks really bad. But I decided that I would not wait for another mat spear base, so I just crafted it in a +3jav mat pike. Rolled a very nice 319ED but only -46 light res.
Since I got to try both the spear and the pike, I gotta say I prefer the pike so far. Attack speed is a non issue with that kind of kill power, so the extended range of the pike fits the build better imho.
Not a lot of play testing, but on first glance I really like the feel of the pike! So a bad thing turned into a good thing somewhat because I would never have made it in a pike otherwise.

Any update on spear vs pike?
Spear is faster and pike gives better phys dmg. All in all they are both very viable, with perhaps a little preference on the spear since everything dies so fast anyways.
But I like both, i kinda switch between them once in a while to test more. I lack data on 3p + though.
Spear has a lot of damage but its not really a big dif vs pike since both kills so fast.
I do prefer mancatcher for the speed though.
Even without the + 3 skills P10?
The mancatcher? Yes its ok the speed makes up for it.
The Mat spear wins in raw damage including lightning damage. Its really a preference thing. It s both a win really either way, everything melts.

can see this vid for reference as mancatcher. but agree with P10 that both mancatcher and amazon spear is equally good depend on your set up.
