Your mileage may vary but this has been working for me today.
Go into lobby and create your game. It will time out and say ‘cannot connect to server’. Hit create again with the same game name and when it times out this time it will say ‘a game with this name already exists’. Go into join game and it should instantly allow you to load into that game.

Or you can switch your region to Europe in the Battle.net app for the time being, until the issue with server connection instability for the Eastern portion of North America is resolved.
I just tried that. Chucked 3 javelins at Shenk and the entire game crashed. Not sure it’s a workaround… Ping was 110, though, so not too unplayable.
The fact I can’t play isn’t even what’s bothering me with all this. It’s that the reason is bots. That Blizzard refuses to put the systems into place that would get rid of them. I could do it myself if given the keys. That aspect of this grates on me.

↑ This. I’m not sure what is happening on the Americas server, but Europe is stable.
this is what I’ve been doing. Still occasional rubber banding etc. Once I got rolled back too.
Worked for me SuperFly! thanks for info. Once i was able to join my game i was then able to create games going forward with no problems.
