Windy Druid: Is Hurricane Build end game viable?

I’m looking at all the guides, but they usually fail to inform me of correct viability or required items being expensive…

I’d like my first character to be a Wind Druid, placing 20 points in Hurricane and the rest in all it’s supporting skills. I’m guessing I should also Max “Oak Sage” and “Summon Grizzly”.

My question is: Will Wind Druid be end game viable? Will it survive Hell mode and Immunity Mobs?

Wind druid is perfectly viable imo. I plan on my first character being a wind druid myself.

I never liked the spell casting Druid skills - but let me find that BLue STaff and Ill make a nice Uber Killer Werewolf …

it’s only one of the tankiest builds in the game if you know what you’re doing. high dmg and shouldn’t die.

It is one of the top builds for cs runs, i dont like playing it, but it is top tier.

It is.
Start is a bit bumpy, because tornados have a bit of random movement.

Dont be discouraged by his item choices, it surely works with cheaper items as well.

One thing I suggest Start Fire Ele. Its far stronger at lower levels. Fissure is Really strong early game.

Wind is Very Weak early.

My plan is fire till 30, Maining Fissure and its synergies. At 30, I will use my free Respec to go Wind.

ya listen to luap, that is the way to go, fire early / mid game, switch to wind for end game.

That video was very very useful. Thank you!!

wind druid is more then capable of end game, great chaos runners, never tried for baal, but they can clear enough in a quick enough manner that its viable. They are great in pvp aswell

Today I tried all pets: 15 points in the early puppers, and couldnt really switch to the corpse devourers. I’m afraid its pretty slow at killing things…

But going summons wolves for leveling… could it be better than Earthquake, Volcano, etc?

summon druids are one of the most useless things in the game. elemental druids are extremely strong.

grizzly isn’t needed, tornado is going to be one of your main damaging moves as a wind druid. Act two merc is plenty for a tank .

Volcano and molten boulder are trash never cast them. Fissure is the main fire druid move. Massive damage, it lingers on the ground, can kill huge amounts of enemies at a time.

Also, Ele Fire moves have a global cooldown, using fissure is best, because the spell stays active killing enemies for longer then the global cooldown.

Just get a Leaf staff by lvl 19 and you are good to go, till 30 and you swap to wind.

Wind Druid is god tier end game with high end gear.

THat’s the problem with these guides. People that have a whole armory of gear to work with, or they sit around in Hero Editor with item packs creating stuff. You won’t find many “guides” telling you how they go about getting to the point where the build is amazing.

That said, the hurricane druid is amazing once you get the gear for it.

After Skelemancer with Corpse explosion and Cold SoS, Wind Druid is my next favorite build.
As many of the caster builds is perfectly viable and cheap to build.
Tornado does physical, Hurricane does cold. There are rarely monsters immune to both.
You don’t care about attack rating.

You will not kill the Ubers, though, if that’s what you mean by endgame viable.

I’m also a big fan of this build, it’s basically “chill everything that comes near you (making it more visible as an extra) and shower it with Tornados”.
A dual Physical / Cold immunity is one of the rarest in Hell as far as I remember, making it one of the few builds I’ve tried that have no problem clearing the hardest difficulty level solo.
You will not be able to do anything against Diablo Clone or Uber Tristram though. I encountered the clone once in the early days while playing, and the Tornados did literally nothing to him (even though I know they were hitting him).

it’s my favourite kind of druid.
very viable end game : Very hard to die (very tanky)
can deal both cold (hurricane) and physical (tornado) making it viable in every area of the game pretty much.

and if you get enigma it’s just pretty much a more tanky sorceress that can go to more area (due to the physical aspect of the tornadoes that kill easily cold immunes and the hurricane that kills physical immunes)
it’s just less efficient than sorceress when it comes to total MF potential (without decreasing dps too much i mean) and range.

but a pretty fun and efficient end game build to me.

there’s a few cons though : it’s a late starter (you get hurricane rather late , usually people do a wolf druide then respec into wind druid later on)
and it does need a few specific items to be really end game viable contrary to sorceress who don’t need very expensive gear (even if , with expensive gear she is obviously better than without)

Useless without enigma though
