Use a captcha where you have to enter 6 numbers the server randomly picks for you. You get 3 tries or you get banned. Ez anti bot
I would definitely pay $50 a month subscription for a D2 resurrected free of botting, this is what will ruin the game and will make most quit soon including myself. I think most old timers have good jobs now, 50 a month to play this cheat free is nothing at all.
It works for about 5 minutes before bot creators add some ai to solve the captcha, then it only harms actual players.
MMOs have already tried this. It does not work.
It depends on the captcha quality really, but it can work rather well
So people who forget to wear their reading glasses or play in the dark get banned.
Having the Alpha contain more information in the files than it should led to more unlocking of the game than was meant. And VV knows the state of this game’s cult following, and should have anticipated a crack to the Alpha. VV knows that not having features present in Beta, and how the Alpha was cracked, should have had better measures to ensure that things that they wanted locked, should remain locked. If it was that easy to do (I mean, I dunno how, don’t care to know how, but I assume easy to be done in such a limited time fashion), then my faith in their security measures for the full game is a bit less than perfect.
If you cant enter the correct 6 numbers witth 3 chances then yes you should be banned from playing. Turn the lights on who games in the dark anyways

I used to game in the dark a lot in my early twenties. Still do sometimes if I want to set the mood, like with a Resident Evil game or even, a bit with D2.
If it is easy enough for a player to enter, it will be easy enough for an ai to solve it.
That is why captchas on websites have gotten more annoying to read or stopped using text entirely in favor of images.

This was literally done by classic Runescape decades ago when you used to have to enter a captcha where Jagex checked if you were a bot using a sleeping bag. Guess what it didn’t work then lol.
Yeah, I didn’t see the full post, but I seen where it was mentioned classic still had no shared stash. Now, this is an earlier build and not full build that launch is working off of, so it might still be there.
