I have been playing for the past 4 hours… I beat ALL of act 2 hell and got a good start on act 3. Then I dropped my first great item of my entire playthrough (a homunculus!)….
Since I noticed that gambling a ring took a LONG time (~1 min), I was afraid server issues were back. So as soon as I finished flayer, I saved and exited the game. Only to see that now my character can’t be found in server.
When servers are finally back, what are the odds I get to keep my progress? The fact that ring had a long delay but then it gambled into my inventory is promising to me. If they have to lock me out for 10 hours yet again I’m perfectly fine with it as long as they don’t roll me back
I cleared the Spider Forest before the servers went back down. I sure hope I don’t have to do that again.
Likely. You will probably lose a hour or so worth.

My loss is atleast 5 hours, that’s how long I was unable to go online (char was locked between the server downs) and then the actual rollback will be added, probably 30 to 60 minutes (was 1 level lower then before server down so the rollback did affect me).
It’s just getting ridiculous.
That’s something they will let you know once they roll out their updates.

Rollbacks only happen if there is an error with the data. Most of the time rollbacks aren’t required. If you were in one single game for 4 hours and hadn’t exited to the character screen or another game, then chances are you lost that progress, depending on the type of issue that caused the servers to disconnect.

Does the game not periodically save process during game? Any idea when I was trying to gamble a ring it had a 60 second delay with a strange message (wish I had screenshot it) but eventually went through?
It does, I just am not exactly sure when the interval is. I know for a fact exiting and entering a game saves it. I do not know if town portals, waypoints save however. I do know that picking up gear or levelling up does not trigger a save.
I actually hope so (selfishly). I’ll have to clear act IV in hell in my necro again, and likely roll back from 78 to 76, but I got a damn Io rune from the hellfire drop. I’d love to get a re-do on that BS.

Bizz doesnt do massive roll backs unless there is a massive exploit. Its going to be the last save that successfully saved onto the server. Its probably going like game → auth server → data base. If the auth server goes down it doesnt save anything you gained between the last save is gone. Could be they save every 5 minutes, could be every 20 min , every hour. Depends.
