As much as I love D2 and really hope it turns out to be amazing, I’m really afraid the game turns out to be neglected and end up being a total failure like WC3:R.
Blizz doesn’t even support WC3:R anymore… tons of broken promises.
So please guys be patient and don’t have your hopes too high. This is a different team this time but we’re talking about activision-blizzard here, they might push for an early release into an incomplete game.
Did you watch the deep dive? The answer is, at the most basic level, no. Furthermore, many people want this game to be neglected. Launched, to operate as 1.14 did, then left. In case you haven’t been following the back and forth between the purists, the casuals, the hardcore, the modern, etc.
This is D2 1.14 running underneath the pretty graphics with some added item compare/stash storage/ui changes. This isn’t WC3R. If they released the game now it would be D2 1.14 with some incomplete new items pertaining to what’s running over D2 original.
Also, this product is separate from original D2.
Are you even aware of what happened with wc3:r ? Clearly not.
They are doing the same formula with d2:r as they did with wc3:r
Nobody in the wc3 community even uses reforged graphics because it’s so bad, they’re all using classic.
Only is blizz listens to all the asinine suggestions they are getting.
This is the same team that remastered Crash, Spyro, and Tony hawk incredibly well. Not the team that butchered WC3:R. Plus they did confirm the original game isn’t going anywhere. I’m not saying its 100% going to be a perfect remaster, but they did get an incredible team to work on this remaster so thats a massive push in the right direction conpared to the wc3 situation. I’m hopeful.
With WC3 they basically overwrote all the original source. Go watch the deep dive it explains how this will be nothing like WC3:R. There is no one on this forum who is unaware of how badly they not only messed up WC3:R, but ruined WC3 at it’s most basic level.
WC3 can’t even operate as it used to anymore. Whereas D2 will be able to and it will be able to operate with updated graphics as D2 used to. You aren’t being forced to use pretty new graphics with D2R.
You don’t seem to understand that the issue with wc3:r was never the gameplay. Gameplay is actually identical to classic.
The issue was all the visual bugs, terrible online UI, lack of stats, clans, lack of updates, false promises such as the remastered cinematics and in game cutscenes, etc.
Just because they promise great things for D2 it doesn’t mean they’ll actually do it right lol.
Yeah game looks good so far from what we’ve seen, but so did WC3:R in the early stage and it turned out to be a complete and utter failure.
It was basically all the stuff the original did with mods that now it couldn’t do, yeah yeah. They also showed us enough to put all that to rest here and talked about mods here. There are basically no new features or new promises here.
You seem to be barking up a storm for little reason here.
If this turns out to be a failure, don’t buy it.

D2:R will be on PC, switch, PS and xbox. They have to do better.
wc3 classic and d2LoD are my two best games ever. Wc3:R is the worst blizzard game so far.
No one needs to watch your video. The deep dive covered all of this, there were multiple questions with how this pertains to WC3R and this has been covered elsewhere. I can’t even play my Blizzard copy of WC3 to date without updating to reforge and I wouldn’t ever do that anyway.
There was a record breaking amount of problems with that game… This is from VV. Again, you’re trying to make a mountain out of a golf course.
Yeah, but to Bee’s credit, CP2077 had to go to consoles too and look what happened there… In many cases, that could actually compound problems, but probably not for the PC.
It seems like Vicarious Visions is doing a better job researching then Lemon Sky did.
Lemon Sky / Blizzard wanted to add in a lot of new stuff in WC3R - I guess they bite off more than they could chew.
Instead of actual getting a 1:1 first, or close to it, and after that add content.
This seems like what is gonna happen to D2R instead (hopefully more content at a later time after release and a couple of ladder seasons).
