Why stash so small on classic?

It was mainly so small because D2Classic was 640x480 at that time. Which is incredible small. If you open your inventory and stash you see why. With 800x600 they could do a bigger stash. With modern resolutions there’s so much space on the screen which means stashes and all that can be larger too.

Look at old pics from the original stash. There is a boatload of wasted space with fluff graphics. They could’ve made it twice or even thrice as large without breaking a sweat.

One of the developers commented on Discord explaining that because of how storage was coded in D2R it made it more desirable to have classic have the original size stash. This is apparently what led people to losing their shared stash after the first ladder. Obviously for PR reasons they didn’t want to say we don’t have time to fix this bug so instead they said classic is for purists and they don’t want a shared stash. So yeah, we never got a shared stash nor will be ever. Once modding because more mainstream someone can hopefully make a mod where classic also has a shared stash.

Well you need ambiance too. Can’t make everything bland and minimalistic.

@deathknight
Maybe someday people will use inject stuff or other stuff again for modding.

That’s why I was talking about 2 or 3 - and not 4 or 5.

Not even close to funny. You live in this forum you know my points.

Maybe on your side. You want to gatekeep classic because it should stay classic in your mind while you don’t play classic and fully ignore all the changes that already happened which fully changed classic.

You know it’s nonsense and I don’t understand why you are even here in this topic. The last time you played classic was probably before LoD was released, so why try to speak for the people that play classic or would if it was pre 1.10?

I have no issue with a quality of life addition of a single shared stash for the sole purpose of making it easier to transfer items between ones own characters.

As far as the size of the stash… Yeah, I’ll agree with David Brevik:
“I’m a grumpy-old-storage-space-miser! Young kids and their need to collect everything these days!”

I don’t care if you don’t like my opinion. Take a number.

Nobody cares about your opinion when you’re not even involved in the topic.

What happened to you? Why are you behaving like a grumpy old fart? I would understand it if you at least played classic recently but you didn’t and you are a hypocrite playing LoD with the extra storage space and trying to deny it to others

Missing features no one cares about anymore.

tcp/ip in 2024? when was the last time you went to a lan party and played this game?

You’re complaining about things that aren’t there just because they aren’t there, not because you need them.

It is a remaster. Just because XYZ th ing was removed doesn’t make it not a remaster lol

If classic isn’t classic enough for you, then play the real classic Diablo II. It is still online, you can still play it, and still gets ladder resets.

You can even still buy it.

Online Mods are very popular and use it as base to connect people online in a “fake” LAN.

Maybe you should just not talk if you have 0 clue.

I’d just kill for 1.09 lol.

You can’t play older patches online. The complaint most people have is D2R classic is just 1.14d classic. They want older patches without synergies and stuff. If I want to play 1.06b, I have to jump through hoops to get a working install and then I can only play single player.

Last week, actually. It was a blast.

Another cool use of TCP/IP was open battle net which allowed you to play online with friends using your singleplayer characters. Which of course wasn’t ideal to play with strangers (since it made cheating trivial), but if you have friends and you know they’re not gonna be cheating, it’s actually a cool option to have.

Of course, people unfamiliar with the concept of having friends to play with might not see much use in the feature

If you have friends, you clearly don’t need the open bnet cheat mode. Except for mods.

Your logic is flawed

Hello Mr. Pot. Yeah, there will ALWAYS be 7 friends available exactly when you feel like playing. They have nothing else to do. :man_facepalming:

Oh I totally forgot that you can only start a game with 8 players……

I really don’t know how I were able to make multiple 99 chars and fully equip them without that info…

:man_facepalming:
If you’re trying to be funny or witty - you’re failing again.

What if I do want to cheat with my friends though? Sometimes we wanna try out dueling random builds and we just make hero editor characters and play on TCP. Sometimes we want to change /players. Sometimes we do want to use mods, etc.

I never said that I don’t want mod servers back, just that your logic was off with that statement
