It’s not always easy to find a group of people to play with, and even then you have to compete for drops which is obnoxious. I wish offline characters could be brought online to play with people if you want, but since you can’t you have to play online if you want to play with people at all.
But I will play by myself a lot because again it’s hard to find a full group a lot of the time, and having to worry about competing for drops stresses me out, but I do like to play with people here and there.
This would really be a nice quality of life change to be able to set players to 8, even if you’re by yourself, specially since it seems to help with rune drops.
I only have online characters because it’s overall better but this does really bug me.
Because you aren’t ment to be able to get 8 player drops as a solo. This is why it doesn’t classify as a quality of life improvement. It effectively makes the game easier.
Sorry friend, that kind of goes against the point of playing online. However, you can try to join games with more people in them and do a different quest? Like example, do a LK run in a baal run game so you have the players but not compete for drops.
It’s important to find good players you can have fun with and not worry about loot sniping. I’m always looking for cool people to play with and add to my core group.
It does not make the game easier, you need to gain more gear and more strength to be able to farm /players 8 efficiently. Item seller’s and botters are the only ones who would not want people to loot more items playing solo online. If they actually added LAN this would not be an issue but they haven’t, so its time to add /players 8 , Either that or personal loot to stop botters/ item sellers.
People do that yes, but it is more difficult and annoying to do in public games. I know because i do it too sometimes. What would happen if players 8 was introduced in online play, everyone and their grandmother would be farming LK for HR’s all day.
Nothing stops you from playing alone, with an offline character, where you can /players x as much as you want.
If you don’t agree, then explain to me why? Oh, I get it. You want all the extra XP and higher drop chances WITH ZERO EXTRA EFFORT to get a group going or to get your friends on board? Yeah… no.
I really don’t understand why people are against this at all. You don’t have to use it if you don’t want to but for someone like me, it’s stressful to have to worry about finding full groups all the time and worrying about drops.
It’s been a long time since I played the original. But couldn’t you bring an offline character online to play with others? I remember using /players 8 a lot.
And even if you do find a nice and friendly group to play with, it’s still an issue when a rune everyone wants drops or nice items in general.
If it didn’t effect the drop rates fine. I actually miss leveling in single player with that toggle. The goal was to just get to the frigid highlands waypoint, toggle/players 8 and repeat eldritch the rectifier. You could go from 25-40 in maybe ten minutes. I’d repeat in NM as well. Get to Frigid Highlands WP asap, /players 8 and go form 55-75 in about an hour.
That said, some of the most fun I’ve had playing D2R is forming quest groups with random people, and just walking through the quests and killing stuff. It’s not as efficient, but it fun.
While leveling my Poison Necro thru NM, I ended up with a Barb, Sorc, and Ele Druid.
The barb, shouts were awesome to have, the sorc dps was great especially static field, and the sorc would teleport and tp for us in certain situations where it was warranted, like getting out of the forests in Act III. And the Ele druid was a beast. He and I stayed on top of each other and once I poison nova’ed, his hurricane would instantly kill whatever it hit.
Which is the entire point of players 8. More loot drops, with the downside of competition. If you remove competition, you only have more loot drops, which causes economy inflation. Therefore, it is okay to have /players x in singleplay, but in an online trading game, you need to account for inflation.
You don’t have to worry about it. You want a benefit that is exclusive to parties of 8.
Either find a party of 8 or roll with the benefits of your current party size. Be social or be solo. You just want a benefit you aren’t entitled to as a solo player.
