Why nerf when you can buff

You don’t like how many sorcs and paladins you see in multiplayer and feel like your Druid isn’t pulling his weight as much?
Why ask for the two strongest classes to be nerfed when your favorite class could get a minor buff and be more effective in multiplayer games?

You see all these low cost items that benefit other classes more and your class doesn’t have that many options?
Why would you want those items to be nerfed when there are plenty of unused items that could be revamped to benefit underpowered classes?

I’m generally against nerfs unless there is an incredibily unfair advantage to using one class over the other. When it’s only about doing a bit more damage to level the playing field, then a small buff is all it takes. Once the weaker class is more on par with the strongest class, no further changes are needed.

Just don’t ruin someone else’s fun to make yourself happier. It is possible to all have somewhat equal fun.

I worry about power creep with buffs. One week its buff this class the next its buff that class. This repeats indefinitely.

I’m not opposed to changes entirely but it can be a dangerous slide to go down.

EDIT: I have never really seen the balance in d2 as a problem in the first place.

I would be so down with a druid buff. At least the summons. They never did a great implementation of it, and I feel if the OG team was still around, that would be on the chopping block. It is possible the most underpowered tree in the game.

The problem with buffing is that right now, with end game gear the game is so easy to beat that it’s boring.
If you buff anything it will be even easier.
If you make the game harder while make the chars stronger you will end up with exponentially growing power like d3, which is also boring.

Nerfing stuff slightly buffs everything that was not as strong naturally, while at the same time making the game harder

idk man. would it really be more fun if everything was as strong/easy as hammerdin?

sounds boring to me.
this is a game where having a hard time creates more fun imo.

after playing a hammerdin to 90+ it’s fun to be able to explore more spicy/edgy classes.

Some do not want the game harder, some do not want it easier. But some want to play a summoner druid and no one does cause they suck. Personally for most skills need to leave it be how it is. But Druids summons are a bit of a special case IMO. They wanted to fix it back in the day, never got a chance because it was not generating money anymore.

We know that all d3 fanboys want the game easier, if the game was easier it would have never got a remaster, nor it would have been the success it was.

how can something that doesn’t exist be a problem?

Indeed.

Nerfs are just as important as buffs. It really depends on what you are targeting.

If an outlier is below the balancing target, you buff. If an outlier is above the balancing target, you nerf.

Since it is way too much work to buff 99% of builds, and monsters, to get up to the outlier - and even if you manage to, you likely just set off an endless power creep cycle.

So overall, use both buffs and nerfs. That said, since this is a remaster, they should be more careful with nerfs than you normally would. Dont kill the builds that people know from the original.

You can beat hell mode with a pretty crappy build, farm keys or whatever with crappy gear. I mean after playing a game 20 years it is pretty easy. When I was a noob and LOD came out, it got hard as nails. But that was more on me and less on balance. Even calculus is easy after 20 years of doing it though. You want hard, play D1 on a old PlayStation as a mage. It about the most frustrating Diablo version I ever put myself though.

Summoner druid gets a bad rap because people think it works like necro and it absolutely does not. You dont sit back and let your pets do all the work you get in there and work as a team.

Each offensive summon synergizes with each other. Max grizzly stats are better than Valk. Spirit wolves are supposed to be repositioned and pull aggro while you get into the thick of the fight with your merc.

I’ll tell you the biggest problem when people play summoner druid. They waste 20 points into Oak or HotW. Nah son. You gotta go full Werewolf with 1 point into Feral and Fury and get in there and slap with the pack.

agree alot. I see a lot of complaints about melee builds and such. But each class does have it’s own advantages and play style. Maybe something like a barb generally doesn’t clear areas as fast before full gears as a sorc, but you also have far less problems staying alive with a similar budget.

Because of power creep. That kills the game.

No nerfs, no buffs; fix bugs and buy decent servers. The end.

They don’t suck. It’s an endgame build. It plays differently than summon necro. And it’s harder, more expensive to deck out.

Hell mine isnt even super tricked out imo and he wrecks solo and does decent in pub mf games. The only things I won’t engage on are like, might or fanatacism aura packs that amp damage. screw that noise. tossing that pokeball out there when they come around. Also its almost impossible to die from dolls. Wolves gain all the aggro and merc stabs them.

Bonehew with 2x Shael (insight on switch)

+2 Summon Ammy

Rest into Werewolf

lvl 87 HC currently. in wsk just wanna toughen up a bit before baal

I went for werebear whit shock wave. Stunning the shyt out of everything, then maul them while dire wolfs and merc melt hordes of monsters. We are wrecking team  tho I still don’t have all the bis items. Never the less it’s realy hard to level whit it from lvl1, that’s why i wrote it’s more of an endgame build.

i don’t trust Blizz to properly balance any game. More so this one, they will likely break the strongest builds by nerfing them into the ground then the other class builds will wind up getting buffed to where they are OP’d for a while. Then when they need to change the meta they will go through the round of buffing and nerfing, never figuring out which builds they want to be viable for farming for loot, farming for ubers and doing ubers.

I base this entirely off of D3 since I have played it more than WoW. Don’t know much about the class balance in WoW, not currently anyway.

I agree. NO NERFS. And any buffs need to be small enough to make other classes and builds viable, but not over powered.

I do not trust ActiBlizz to balance correctly either. I expect any large scale changes to not ‘fix’ things but unfortunately make them much worse.

People who complain about buffs that make unused builds viable end up using the build at some point and you don’t hear them complain about it ever again.
