Why Level 1 Fant?

50% extra damage from Fant is trivial in comparison to an additional +50% weapon damage modification as weapon damage is multiplicitave with off weapon ED sources (skills, auras, gear, etc.) but the 50% ED from Fant is only additive to ED from skills etc.

Weapon damage is key for physical builds. It’s the reason why Grief is king.

The Fant aura radius is also too small to be useful for party play or for use with minions/mercs.

This leaves the +40% AR and the 14% IAS…

An Eth rune insted of Eld would be a better option to improve hit chance over the 40% AR boost.

The fact that the weapon still has BOS as proc provides SIAS of 22% which would make the combined SIAS of 36% which is equivalent to either level 23 Fant or level 5 BOS (37%).

As it stands, Hustle still isn’t strong enough individually and is no longer an enticing pre-buff…

The real answer is because the devs for D2R have never actually played D2 or D2R. They have a dart board in the office and they put random stats/skills/auras on it and throw darts. Whatever they hit is what goes on the items in question.

Nah its llama’s fault for whining that BoS 9 was “too op.”

Level 9 BoS was too OP, and it wouldn’t have been used as intended. The weapon mods sucked, so it would only have been used as a prebuff weapon for end game content. However, the change from lvl 9 BoS to level 1 and level 1 fana made the item completely useless for self use, but now you can throw it on a might aura act 2 merc and use the same ole gear you would have used for the melee character you planned to make.

Yea, a few of the youtubers cried about level 9 BOS and got it nerfed. Really unfortunate, one of the biggest things I was looking forward to this season was being able to hit a lot of IAS bps easily, and allowing new weapon variation. Oh well, can’t have fun things.

Good for a merc, bad for you since the aura is too small.

It wasn’t OP at all. Grief was still the BiS and it maybe made thundermaul ebotds meta for shapers (except you can still get 4fpa thundermaul with metamorph but its an even worse way than just friggin prebuffing with hustle).

If you have a problem with prebuffing then CtA needs to be removed from the game.

I don’t have a problem with prebuffing, but I think prebuffing cta, then going to town and putting hustle on to prebuff BoS before actually playing the game is a pointless addition.

Also, as I said, the weapon itself sucked, I never said it was OP. lvl 9 BoS is OP in addition to grief is a bit OP. The item was never going to get used as intended, and that is because the devs for D2R really have no clue what they are doing.

Except nobody but weirdos would do that. Old hustle incentivized players to drop the cta and just swap to hustle. On barbs they couldve had a swap for hustle/lacerator for a pure dps build over just shoving in bo sticks in your back pocket.

I have no clue why so many people were acting so incredibly dense about the old version.

Now hustle is completely useless to melee. Seal clap we did it!

No. Grief in a phase blade is so broken that hustle didn’t even buff grief because griefpb already hits the final ias breakpoints with every skill. That.is.why.grief.is.busted.

Not even good for merc, the damage just isn’t there…

Or run with streamer feedback…

You can definitely throw hustle on an eth ogre axe and it wouldnt be completely awful.

Agreed. I think they should change to have Fant Aura roll between Level 3-5 and would improve the radius for minions/mercs without being too powerful for the cost.

3-5 would actually make it useable.

$10 on them not making a sensible change.

Yeah streamers that play nothing but casters. The only time they melee is when they find Lo rune which they do after thousands and thousands of lower kurast run. Much gameplay, such progression.

They’re trying to avoid revamping poorly aged systems with runeword text. IAS is brutally garbage and the end result is that very few weapons types are considered. Phaseblade being both indestructible and the fastest base weapon, and can have 1-6 sockets, has made it a mandatory base for just about any weapon, even things that aren’t Grief. It’s too convenient.

IAS needs to hit breakpoints needs to be cut in half, literally half of what players currently need to hit their breakpoints. That’s what Fanaticism would do for builds. That’s what BoS would do for builds. It’s too much, and creating hodgepodge items like Hustle, both the original and new version, don’t fix anything.

You know the last time they changed ias on classes they nerfed barbarians and druids right?

Not sure, going to use it on a merc for my firedin/lightingdin until I get better.

Why anybody takes anything he says with any modicum of validity is beyond me.
I stopped after about 5 seconds on 'pallies are the most op melee in the game…as he teleports passed everything…but chaos is a bad place to level melee…say who? what? have you actually done anything but seal popped…like ever? Even then you are just wrong.

For a Ko rune, you cannot seriously expect this to compete with any high end weapon. At best it could have been used to prebuff in some cases where the time was worth it, or a few niche cases where BoS attack and movespeed bonuses were enough to offset a bit more damage, particularly for those that play HC.

Level 9BoS for a Ko rune is too strong though. For a Lo? Now maybe, if you up the damage on it a bit…but that was never their intention with the runeword.
Treachery is honestly a bit strong as well, but Fade isn’t used as much as it used to be. Mainly since runes are easier to come by.

Spread the word buff the fanat aura on hustle to 3-5

Let’s join together and spread the word for requesting a last minute change to the Hustle Weapon for buffing Fant Aura to 3-5!

Hopefully with this thread and the one below we can get some traction…

Listen man, just because someone really needs a haircut doesn’t mean that any old barber will offer an improvement. Blizzard may not be up to the task of fixing IAS, they’d have to play the game first to understand the problem, but it is what the game needs; more than it needs these bandaid runewords that nobody wants to use.
