Nad, yet, you played those games and even beat them … go figure.
@BigJay
Well while HR drop rate is indeed too low, and we can’t do much about that except at infinitum run Travincal/Cows/whatever(or use mods), acquiring decent/good gear is not that hard.
1st, going back to Nightmare, and run Andariel/Mefisto/Diablo/Baal on P7 gives surprisingly good results, as they to start drop items used in engame that early. I’ve found several Vipermagi skins, one I’ve kept and one upped, Magefists, Trang Oul gloves and chest, necromancer wands except Poison Web…it was like opening hidden treasure of pirates. The key there is that your early hell character, when going back to Nightmare is so powerful compared to enemies you can drop some +DPS gear to increase Magic Find, and still be capable of murdering everything on Players7. The only downside of that is very poor EXP gain.
2nd, obtaining +1/+2 class skill amulet is super easy, the answer is gamble on high enough level. The trick is not to sold bad ones, but instead transmute 3 of them into 1 ring, and vice versa. Through that I’ve finally got ex. 29 all resist 25 lv2 Teleport charges - a way better than having a staff in 2nd weapon slot. Also I’ve equipped all my lv1 chars with +1/+2 amulets for the future. Right now my Wind Druid is using +2 duid skills +98 life amulet I got from gambling. Before gambling it is recommended to create Edge bow, and the best would be also to find Gheed’s Fortune, these combined provide huge savings. And the last, you need to pick and sell stuff to have plenty of gold, as I observed minimum gabling session for amulets (Gheed 13% + 15% Edge) requires 2.5-5M of gold to get 1-5 useful amulets. Be aware though vast majority of them will be not for your, but other classes.
I still don’t have Arachnid Mesh belt, druid pelt +2 skills 3/3/3, but for example I feel little urge to craft caster amulet, the one described above is good enough.
Good advice!
Post must be at least 20 character.
“Incraesed drop rates makes me stop playing the game because i have nothing left to look for”
THEN WTF IS THE POINT OF THE LADDER RESET?
Again
We don’t need higher drop rates
Just more places to drop them
Why would a barb run anything other than trav when hishighrune drop chance is 1:6h when the rest of the game is 1:30hours
Make every area worth clearing, every mon worth clearing and you won’t need to change the drop rates
But wait, you must be finding gear that you can trade for runes. That is what I do. What you cannot easily get is very high runes / gear. But you can build up to it if you collect runes, for example I have now like 6 Ists (I have all runes up to Ohm), I need 64 for a Ber. If I use my other HRs, all the way up to Ohm, I probably only need 16-20 Ists more.
However I use a sorceress and I can collect all keys quickly, the hardest being Destruction (but fun). I trade hate/terror for 3x keys = 1 Mal, and all other gear I find, so there are plenty of Ists in my stash.
There are “professional” grinders who run 10x faster than I , by the way. So if I can have so many Ists, they must have dozens.
Runewords are more common than rare uniques as is. If you make high runes mroe cmmon, then the rare uniques must be mroe common too.
All in all, i would say that the shelflife of the game would suffer as a result.
It’s a 22 year old game…
I grind to farm runes and other high yield items.
Is that wrong? I mean am I playing this game wrongly?
Best way to alienate your playerbase is by making a huge part of the game completely inaccessible to them.
Is this you? …
Yeah. And I’m level 36 now.
And I hope to be level 37 next Tuesday.
You seem to be mistaken my brother. This game came out last year.
You’re thinking of Diablo II, a game that has more or less nothing to do with this one.
Right, but it wouldnt be if everything dropped really quickly and there was nothiong left to play for.
So either every monster drops a zod or a player sees them once every few years - you can’t imagine anything inbetween?
The original point was that unique drop rates would have to improve too.
I will say though, that any incrase in rune drops will make the game more trivial. How much more you increase drop rates will determine how much easier the game will be, and the point of triviality or completion - resulting in a shorter shelf life.
So why not half the drop rate to double the shelf life? Maybe people will play a 22 year old game for the next 20 years if they can’t find anything! genius!
I see your point. That would be horrible. Doesnt mean everything should drop more frequently though.
people will still be playing this 20 years from now because it is a good game.
The bots also do this 24/7 - never get tired or take breaks.
What is the aim of all your grinding though? Make a new class? Use a new build? Is there “fun” in any of your activities?
Current drop rates and randomness of stats are designed around a very healthy player base and trading between players. I would go as far as to say you are not meant to find your Ber rune, you are meant to trade up to it.
But when the real player base is small, and many players are not into jsp/ebay/traderie etc, they feel, and rightly so, that the game sucks because there literally are no drops, not unless you become a bot your self and go kill Pindleskin a thousand times.
I am trading actively (never real money) and I can tell there are no casual, levelling players to create a healthy market, all that remains is a very small core group of elite players (or botters) interested in only buying the very top end gear. Rest of the gear you literally give it away and no one wants it. I mean you can get an Oculus for a Pul…
