I always been agaisnt increasing drop rate … but after reading that, i have to admit drop rate are bad and need to be increased… When someone serously think that 1408 new chars rush from normal to hell is a healthy time for 1 rune … you know something is wrong about the game.
Except nobody farms runes like that so your point is totally irrelevant.
rune are very easy to find compare vanilla , also you have the cube to upgrade the rune
not sure what is the issue there ? last week i find 2 ber in the same 24 hour
farm the high council of zakarum , no need enigma run 5 sec you are there
I disagree, I would welcome some changes. Increase rune drops, removing them from cube recipes, adding in more cube recipes. Like upgrading rare items to unique, or converting set items to another of that set. Make the game more fun.
Also, while we’re at it, I would prefer seasons to be maybe 4 weeks (30 days, reset on Tuesdays) to compensate for the increased chance to find items. Would go a long way to keeping the game fresh.

Wtf, first of all, bad example, you’re not including all the other runes that do drop that are worth a Gul or more.
Second of all, who the hell does that? I’ve 3 Gul runes and I’ve played for about 2 weeks. Kill mobs, quickly and in appropriate areas. Why in gods name are you target farming one rune? This isn’t that type of game. You farm items and maybe you get something that’s worth a Gul.
Has it been 20 years and people still don’t know how to play this game? Holy ****.
Well read the forum ? someone was saying that in the same topic you are currently typing … i only said it was really unhealthy and the fact that someone could really think like that kinda tell you how bad the drop can be sometime.
The odds on hrs aren’t even that crazy in comparison to other items.
For example. When a rune drops, the chances of it being an ist-zod is about 1 in 750.
One of the rarest items I’m aware of is a 3 to ele skill / 3 to tornado / 3 to hurricane / 60 life / 2 socket magic pelt.

The chances of identifying a magic pelt with these mods? 1 in 14 billion. You would need to ID 14 billion magic blue pelts. For even more comparison a JMOD rolls once every 16,000 magic monarchs indentified.
Suddenly 1 in 750 don’t seem so bad.
And that’s the beauty of the game, super rare items that aren’t required to clear Hell comfortably and are entirely unique. You may get something truly special that no one else has ever gotten and not even know what you have.
But yeah, cry me a river target farming a specific rune drop without stating the fact that the forge drops multiple gems/runes of varying worth. oi

IMO it’s not that bad. Just the sweet spot in my opinion. Rare enough to cheer me up every time I find a Lem+, and release a battle cry every time I find a Lo+
Find 1000 runes (think about how often you find A rune - not that rare really) - get about 5 Lem 4 Pul 3 Um 3 Mal 2 Ist 2 Gul 1 Vex 1 Ohm 1 Lo 1 Sur.
But OPs example with D3 are freaking silly, if he likes D3 so much maybe he should just keep playing it? In D2 you are not entitled to treasure, and it is not required to beat the game and access 99% of its content
You know the drop rate is good, when people complain on forums, that its bad.

Droprate for runes are fine. Now you get really happy when finding a HR, or a ist+ early in the ladder.
But they really need to do something against bots. I dont get it, they should have people infiltrating known bot and hack communities so that they know how to best stop it.
Maybe the game could improve the quality of runes from Hellforge quest a bit - bots don’t farm Hellforge, and it rewards players that play more characters.
I’ve often said that its not necessarily the drop chance per say but the convolutedly and often times broken frame seed desync with the R#G algorithm. People who have studied the code have pointed out that packet loss interfering with item generations especially noticable in P8 when there is suppose to be a ZERO% on NoDrop. There was for years broken MF% on Necro ZooKeepers probably still is same goes with the MF% calculator on all minions including mercenaries.
If you have 1 friend or 2 accounts its really fast to rush to HF. Even now when Gul is highest drop it can feel worth it at start of ladder, both for more socket Q and HF.
Now when i dont have 2 accounts I do it the slow way, great low lvl gear rush to baal and lvl to 40.
If you haven’t played long enough to find any rune over a Vex your opinion on changing how diablo 2 is played is NULL.

Hellforge doesn’t necessarily need to drop Vex and above, just move the lower rune drops to nightmare and increase the changes of the remaining runes. Every time I cringe when I get like a Lum rune from Hellforge…
So it could be:
Normal: El → Amn
Nightmare: Sol → Lum
Hell: Ko → Gul
