Why is there 0 build diversity?

Anyone else notice its just pick ur generator pick your spendor. Cast 3 spendors then cast 3 builders. Out side of that its very bland. I wanted more…

It feels like a reskinned D3 with less fun builds. At 25 my builds on every class never really felt like Anything more than, build a lil to spend a lil. Game was fun but i feel like it never really breaks that barrier of a really fast paced exciting build.

They got a few months to address the issues.

Although painfully obvious what you’re referring to, perhaps context would better suit your posts for the uninitiated, lol. This is the D2R forums, after all.

but as per the usual, my for par response:

Subjective. Opinion. OP Onions. etc.

As opposed to Diablo 2’s “Trist Runz001 x30, Tomb Runs x50” and then move on to Cows/Chaos/Baal runs to level 92 before you actually do anything of merit?

Can agree!

I mean… I felt the game was in the right spot so, your mileage may vary. It’s not going to be for everyone but I promise you the hot hot hot large majority of the people claiming they won’t touch D4 will actually do so.

Pointless game anyway, the market for those clicky-click looty-loot 2D hack & slays is dwindling. Younger people won’t touch them and the late gen X and early millenial gamers are slowly but surely dropping out from gaming.

At least D2R is connected to nostalgia.

If you like the game, buy it. If you dont, then don’t buy it. You are in control of your life, right? It’s not like Blizzard is holding a gun to your head forcing you to buy it.

Reskinned Diablo 3 eh? I guess I can see this opinion. It’s got the same top down isometric playstyle as D3, and D2, and the original Diablo for the matter… Hell even Zelda: A Link to the Past… Even the old Ultima games. Not to mention countless other isometric top down games.

Back when Pong was new, it was such a popular game that it along with millions of Atari consoles flew off of the shelves. These days, outside of avid collectors of vintage game consoles, hardly anybody wants to play an Atari or Pong.

Maybe you’re burned out on the ARPG genre? Take a break for a while. Diablo has a way of calling its followers back to endure the item grind for just a while longer.

The problem with ARPGs in general is that they are from a time when tech just wasn’t advanced enough to permit more advanced gameplay. Most gamers today seek games that provide both exciting, engaging gameplay and a competitive aspect.

I mean we all like D2 because as I said, that’s what we grew up with when it was the absolute state of the art, but if we are honest for one second the game is just mindlessly clicking a skill 10.000 times in repetition while reading item names.

The level of evolution such a game can undergo is very, very limited and mostly centered around graphics and polish, but there really won’t be any new mechanics.

jesus christ save us all, was not expecting a UO mention, lol.

Someone has not played poe.

Arpg-like games are popular. Just look at vampire survivors. Its pretty much a streamlined roguelike arpg that brings the monsters to you

100 % agree with you on that … I played a druid to lvl 10 and couldn’t do it anymore… it was way to boring, so to give D4 a chance i started a new char, i made a barb and after reading the skill i just left and deleted the game. The skill tree was exactly the same… Spender–>First offensive wheel–> Defensive wheel.

Diablo 2 was released in the year 2000, not 1975. Always find it weird people consider 20 years ago a gaming stone age given the titles released then - you’d swear Pong came out in 1999 by the way you talk.

The design of an ARPG is by choice, not because of limitations. They could have made a Diablo skinned Majora’s Mask at the time of they really wanted to, but they didn’t, because they weren’t making a 3D action adventure game.

Similarly, PoE, D4, Titan Quest etc. etc. could have chosen to do things differently; they didn’t because there’s an audience for these games.

No Built diversity…

Fohdin was created first season.

Sunder Charm open more Built to be viable.l

This season martial assasin finaly viable.

I think he meant it is a bad reskin of a bad game, more than referring to the genre, which is true, since It’s a bad game that resembles an older bad game.

They could have added more dept in the skills. Make some new one’s for every classes also. They should have also make the talent system more deep and more meaningful like poe and let you deepen you class eg : sorcerer becomes arcane mages or something like that.

So much potential lost.

What are you talking about? D2 came out before D3 and there are no “generators” in D2.

And the reason why there is no build diversity in D2 is because most people are meta slaves and the game literally forces you to have certain specs because of lazy game design (immunities).

Yea d2 did not have generaters cause you use mana pots and health post stam pots etc… so uncastvfew skills use mana pot to regenerate. D3 changed it tonuse generater tonise skills.

You won’t get POE-level power and speed until you get deep into the paragon tree and partner it up with good mythic modifers. The beta displayed only noob components.

Not UO…Ultima…on the NES.

I wouldn’t say top down is done only cuz past ways and etc. They definitely can me games done with this style nowadays. And whoever will play it or not is subjective.
New God of war also uses dated over the shoulder view and yet you have zoomers saying how modern that game is.
Not everyone cares about graphics either. And kids who like shiny high polly toys will grow up eventually.
Indie gaming proves this for years now.

Not using 10+ spells to do one thing isn’t always better. But I understand where u coming from. If you hate casting 0-2 spells longer period of time that is reasonable.

But d2 is more complicated than just being about one or two spells. If you only got this far, it is obvious you can’t know it, but again fair enough. If I don’t have fun with game from the very start then I drop it as well.

Did… did you seriously expect anything else? Blizzard games these days is the gaming equalent of listening to Taylor Swift.

You can remap every D2 input such that you literally never need to click the mouse again. D2 is still the gold standard for an ARPG, and PoE is right next to it as a faithful D2 clone.
