It’s the same issue.
No, one is a woke game from the ground up. The other is claiming to remaster a game, but instead changes it to a woke agenda. Those who purchased this for a faithful remaster have a valid complaint.
here i call BS. seems like you see everything out of some kind of lense of ideology. how is this model sexualized?!:
How do you propose a game company release a remaster of a game from 20 years ago (when the social climate was quite different) into a new climate that’s less tolerant of things that were largely accepted back then? How do you propose they deal with the heat they may face if they change nothing?
Rockstar removed a confederate flag from their GTA remaster. Capcom removed the upskirts from the resident evil 4 remaster. I’m sure there are many game makers facing the same decision.
Even D&D’s creators and players know some changes are needed in the modern age: https://www.wired.com/story/dungeons-dragons-diversity/
some havent: https://arstechnica.com/gaming/2020/07/rpg-remakes-maintain-the-problematic-racial-representations-of-their-pasts/
It seems like a ‘damned if you do, damned if you don’t’ scenario. Would you prefer the game not be released at all?
The social climate wasn’t different. We just have a bunch of woke babies today that get pandered to for various political reasons. You encourage it, I don’t. The root of our differences on this is an entire conversation that we’re not even allowed to have here so no point in getting further into it (well, only one side of that conversation – see “woke babies” as to why). In the meantime, those who wish for a faithful remaster should keep the issue alive.
I was thinking more of the original. I’m impressed they gave her less cleavage! That aside, I still think she has a pretty nice pair of boobs.
show some proof. the original had exaggerated proportions in general. bigger head, etc. think i still recall a dev saying that they had to do that sothat people would even recognize characters properly. having seen some of the original 3d models they used for the sprite, they look less like normal human proportions. biggers eyes, head, etc.
So, you’re saying… the social climate is different.
I do. For what it’s worth I also encourage racism to be called out, and rigid stereotypes that men have to perform lest they not be considered Real Men (aka toxic masculinity), I also support discussions to normalise the idea that men can be primary care givers both in society and in the family court system so they receive more fair outcomes. Y’know… social agenda stuff that is for the good of everyone.
Not really. In the 80, satanist cults were a thing. If corporations started pandering to them for political agendas, I wouldn’t say the social climate turned to satanism. I’d say it’s just corporations doing what they normally do.
Doubtful. You would be an extreme rarity to hold your position and at the same time not be racist to white people. But if that’s the case, I’d certainly commend you. The problem with all of this is your ideas don’t actually ever get challenged properly. Corporations protect you from having to deal with actual challenge. It’s sad because I read what you say and already know what you’ve never had to intellectually deal with, and there’s nothing I can really do about it here. Oh well.
Because the rules of the site don’t permit you to say what you really want to say? If that’s the case then do you really consider it a ‘challenge of my ideas’ or would it be more accurate to call it straight up insults and verbal attacks, which quite rightly get deleted?
There doesn’t appear to be anything stopping you from challenging my ideas within the socially-accepted convention of not personally attacking the person whose opinions you don’t agree with. So let’s hear it?
Not at all. And again, you would have no idea because corporations protect you from having to have your ideas actually challenged. You think the only things left are insults. It’s actually very sad and I feel genuinely sorry for people like you. It’s like walking around with your fly down all day, and no one telling you.
Then come out with it. There are no corporations here that are protecting me from having my ideas actually challenged. You’ve got some kind of hangup thinking there’s an invisible fence preventing you from saying what you really want to say, but there isn’t. So unless what you have to say is just outright abuse then the fence is in your head, so just say it.
Nah, already been through this with Blizzard. Wrong think is not allowed. It’s not allowed on pretty much all social tech corporation venues. You can believe it’s insults or me lying, I don’t really care. I’m just telling you, your ideas are unchallenged because you are protected by corporations. You have a corporate provided bubble. I know I can’t convince you by just talking about this in general without examples. But I’m not interested in a vacation over this nonsense again. These forums are a lost cause like most tech social venues.
Uh huh. A corporate provided bubble. From a company whose culture permitted women to be systemically harassed within their office walls. Sure. I totally believe you that my ideas are protected by said corporation who had to be sued by the state in order to change the corporate culture that resulted in the harassment and discrimination that it knowingly cultivated.
I think you would find most upper echelons have predators in their ranks.
Women included.
It has always been this way.
It is in their interest to protect you, as you are a vehicle for the changes taking place.
The facade of a free and fair society is meant for peons, their class will stay the same.
Because blizz employees think making all females look like they got hit by trucks makes females now EMPOWERED against cis white PRIVILIGED men.
They must be getting advice from antia sarkisian
Hello everybody,
No matter what the politics are and no matter what the social agenda is - it is unquestionable fact that the current amazon model in D2R is ugly. The true sense of aestetics has always been above the politics and the powers of the day.
I don’t know what exactly stays behind Blizzard’s decision to choose this ugly model instead of the masterpiece model of Hossein Diba, but this is definitely a WRONG decission which is upsetting most of the D2 and D2R fans around the world (not all of them but most of them).
I am apealling to Blizard - please either fix this or at least give us the proper tools so we can edit the 3D models for ourselves. At this very moment only re-textures mods are possible but they are not enough to fix the damages which your wrong amazon model decission is causing.
Thank you
You never see the characters, they always have helmet…
Hello Aleks,
Even if the characters are wearing helmets this is still not a good reason to leave some of them with ugly head models.
Correct me if I am wrong but this is/should be a remaster game and the purpose of every remaster game is to enhance the quality of the original legacy ‘master’ in every aspect, especially when we are speaking about one of the main characters.
I understand that for some people like you this detail is not so important but it is important for most of the fans of this game which should not be ignored anymore.
P.S.
In many cases amazon characters are wearing circlet, diadem or tiara which is making the ugly head model more visible both in the game and in the main menu…
Regards
Too bad they couldn’t get the dude that plays her to do the voicing. It is so strange to hear the old female amazon’s voice come out of that new guy.
