I am curious why a ppl often look / buy sacred targe / rondance over a vortex shield. Anyone care to comment?
Sacred Targe highest block rate shield . Rondache sacred Targe is 2nd . Vortex just have highest defense but less block rate
Plus lowest strength requirement. Vortex shield has a strength requirement close to a monarch at like 148 I think?
The vortex shield hype is more so from the old d2 when things could be eth bugged for even more def stacking. Now that its not a thing, it doesnt make as much practical sense to sacrifice block rate for def. Nostalgia and ignorance tho still makes vortex expensive.

I think most will say that use an ETH vortex to make an Exile, so the Str requirement is a bit lower
Even then the str req is 138 vs Sacred targe at like 100 or something. And yea, exile should not be made in anything but an eth base or it’s just a waste.
For any case, like Skyffx said, it’s not really worth the extra def to make anything out of vortex anymore since str bugging doesn’t exist anymore.
That being said, Zakarum shield is my favorite skin so I’m biased towards that.
But, doesn’t paladins normally have above 150 strength anyway?
Also, don’t they have holy shield buff that would make any low block reach 75%?
If they are wearing CoA or Enigma or both, yeah naturally they’d haev over 150 str but that’s not really the point of comparing these shields. Sacred Targe is just mathematically more advantageous in d2r due to the highest block rate chance. That means more stat points to spend for vitality instead of dexterity.
