So, I am a player who does not bot nor used maphack and just plays casually. With people hearing about the bans, I do not understand why they are happy.
I do not believe maphack really negatively effected the game, however, banning over 100k players pretty much destroys the trading market for players. Many of my friends used maphack and now I play alone. So what if they could see the map, they still had 1 in a million chance at a high rune just like me.
If anything, the game is much worse off now since all the botters are still here. You know, the people who actually completely negatively effect the games market? I dunno. I just think its a petty thing to ban players for something that has been around forever now and does not really do much except save people time on getting from place to place.
If you don’t like maphack, don’t use it. Like I stated initially, I never have and never will. But to completely eliminate the entire playerbase over a mod? Why celebrate it? Games are empty now. Trade is gone. My friends are all banned.
Just me and a bunch of other people who are either botting or probably buy items from websites of people who bot. Woo Hoo. What a win for gaming in Diablo 2.

MH allows players to farm keys faster
MH allows players to Rush players faster
MH allows players farm more effeciently
These gives them an unfair advantage over those who don’t use MH.
Keys were highly sought after and worth ALOT during the early season.
Rushing players is not free, rushing faster = more income
Wanna find the new level 85 areas? MH basically gives you the exact location!
Go Ytube some MH videos, as it offers alot more than showing the full map. They offer customization such as loot filters, loot alerts, vendor alerts and what have you.
Come back here and tell us again why you think people arehappy since MH users got banned.
But see if one was available to use provided by blizzard, you are saying you wouldn’t use it? I dont believe that for 1second. knowing that the people who do use it are farming zones much much faster. So maybe MH dosnt effect your drop rate. But it helps you find that specific mob/boss your looking for faster than people who do not use it. So lets say its Andy, Someone with MH may kill andy 4 times before you get your first kill without MH, lets just they killed andy twice. the drop rates are the same for both people but MH user got 2 kills vs your 1 kill. So lets say after 10 runs, you killed andy 10x, the MH user killed andy 20x, who will have more gear or possible rune to trade.
Im not against the MH users as I play alone on bnet, and dont do much trading. But if one was available to use provided by blizzard, I would use it in a heartbeat.
I hate to be the one to tell you all this, but without maphack this game is basically play sorceress or play nothing at all unless you have Enigma.
Ever tried doing runs without teleport? Maphack really put everyone on an even playing field IMO. Right now, this game is HEAVILY sorceress based in every way. You can tele all over and find the next door super easy, but if you are on foot, going the wrong way can take forever.
I think all maphack did was make the game viable for other classes outside of sorceress. Which btw, as a non maphack user, I pretty much only play sorc even though I hate the class simply because I don’t want to spend all day running around everywhere blindly. I thought long and hard about wanting to use it just so I could play other classes. But it’s not worth it running around blindly without a destination.
As sorceress, I can just spend about 15 seconds using teleport and find everything on the map. Good luck to any other class. If anything, maphack doesn’t hurt the game, teleport does.
Buy tele staff and clear chaos with ur mates at ladder start, or wsk for mf and baal after, might even get some hr’s.
Plenty more options, especially when there’s a group of players not 1, no mh needed what so ever.

1 player teleport right to the door, other has to teleport if unlucky around the entire floor. maybe the MH sorc saves 20-30 seconds per run for using Mh vs the sorc that does not use it, the 20-30 seconds may not mean much to you, but many other legit players do see a problem with this.

Lets talk about another issue that maphack SOLVED. I have been doing a lot of runs lately and missing out on drops because they are not showing on my screen. My friends and i tested it and many times there are rune drops I will NOT see them until the last moment on the edge of my screen as i am leaving.
How much BS is that? Maphack solved a problem by letting you know when something dropped. Standard diablo 2 hides item drops from you intentionally. Who know how many runes we leave behind or uniques because they are not on the loot table on the ground.
And again, I get it, I see why people do not like maphack. BUT THE DAMN BOTTERS ARE STILL RUNNING. The damn people selling items for real money are still playing. I can buy Jah runes right now for 1.50 each, why are people not outraged about the botters and shops not getting shut down? I would think that is a MUCH huger problem for you guys than a maphacker.
Botters and sellers are still running strong. You think maphack is bad? Swip your credit card and get everything in the game for like 5 bucks.
Botting is cheating, and yet people seem to be fine with it apparently.
While drops being hidden in large piles of items is indeed a problem, using a 3rd party program to “assist” you is still taking matters into your own hands, which puts your account at risk.
Lobby for changes to fix the problem instead of taking matters into your own hands…
I want to see two additions to the game:
1: A BASIC loot filter for item labels. Simple enough for everyone to use, no syntax gobbledygook to learn. Abiity to hide labels for potions, gold (hey we have autogold, we can see the gold piles), scrolls and other junk items.
2: Item label priority based on the rarity of items. So for example, if there are a ton of junk items on the ground where your screen doesn’t have enough room to show all of the labels, and there is a Ber rune in that pile, that Ber rune would have an elevated item label priority and would ALWAYS show.
Because it makes me happy when justice is done. It’s just sad that it takes so long. I stopped playing just a few weeks after the ladder started because it wasn’t fun anymore - haven’t even reached level 90 (HC) yet. You can’t find good games and at every corner there are super rich people who have their HR from somewhere… that demotivates me extremely. The less cheaters there are, the better.
I get your point but what did you want us to do… Does your banned friend need patted on the back? This whole thread so far is just you wanting someone to agree with you and make you feel better it seems like … Big waste of time and energy and negative vibe
I just want to understand why people are so happy. It’s just going to take players out of the game. Over 100,000 accounts banned, thats a lot of future players gone from an already dying game.
