Since they pretty much made a new game here why not expand on it?
Add completely new class skills
New Runes
New Class
New Campaign
End Game like what you find in Path of Exile.

They did not pretty much make a new game… End your topic there.
Why aren’t they going to make an expansion for D2:R? For the same reason they haven’t done so for Warcraft:Reforged and Starcraft:Remastered.
Diablo II:Resurrected is a remaster.
Plus, I’m not sure you’d want an expansion for the game, as based upon your thread history, you’d probably just find even more things to complain about. Heh
Another troll topic. You didnt even supposedly finish game and ask about expansion lol.
Seeing what they’ve done with some of these latest runewords, I’m not sure a full expansion is something we even want, unless they bring in David Brevik as a consultant, to keep this game grounded upon what made it great.
I do not think that they want any competitor to upcoming D4, D2 remaster is already a big one. Why do you think Blizz doesn’t want to implement even very simple QoL such as stacking and loot filters…
Hoping they wont, it’s already very far from Classic gameplay—the same Diablo II you know and love, preserved.
still being advertised.
Well no D2 player in the right mind would be playing D4, let’s keep it real here.
D4 is just an extension of D3 and DI, an MMO RPG that is really competing against Pay to Win games, furthermore some evidence that exist suggests that D4 is already P2W with how much advantage you are getting with buying the more expensive version of the game and then the battle passes.
It’s totally going to be just like Diablo Immortal and the only reason they aren’t marketing it as that is because they want everybody to buy the initial game.
If they expanded on D2 they would have to keep the original gameplay intact also Blizzard didn’t make D2R it was a 3rd party studio
john. i realize you’re new here but this forum isn’t and most of your threads are things that have been seriously beat like a dead horse…
Ja, that might be all true, however, an expansion would cost Blizzard 10s of Millions and for what if they are close to the release of another Diablo franchise, plus the surely already planned expansions for D4.
The subject was discussed plenty of times and they won’t do it. Case closed.
Plenty of players came back to D2 because of the resurrected version, like me also. So there won’t come more, as sweet as it may sound, but there won’t. After all Blizzard is a business and what do business like best? Profit. And there is not much profit to make with D2 anymore.
Through all those recent patches they rather may bury D2 once and for all. The game is now too easy to get through. You may research some posts from the past, how difficult it was to obtain just an Anni, now you get them thrown after…
And you are absolutely right about one thing, no real legit D2 player will jump on D4 like we all jumped on D3. “Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me…”. Not gonna happen, same like a further expansion for D2 is going to happen.
Uh, no.
They’re not going to add a new expansion to a game they made 20 years ago.
Now if they implemented the allowance of runes and gems being stacked. That would be great Bliz. It would free up so much room by allowing that.
98% of my private stash on my Sorc is nothing but perfect gems and runes.
Or more characters, to mule the items. But stacking would be really highly appreciated.
So, basically, you want more story when (according to your post history) you aren’t even able to get through the existing acts. You want more characters when you’ve most likely not even tried more than 1 of the existing ones. You want more runes when you have most likely never seen most of the existing ones. And End Game when you will most likely drop the game before even getting there because PoE2 is going to be shipped.
This doesn’t seem very constructive.
On the off chance that you are not trolling, I’d recommend rethinking your approach to the game and to posting on the forums.
First, understand that it is the game upon which PoE has been based, trying to improve upon it. A lot of mechanisms are going to be the archaic version of what PoE has to offer, so expect the game to be a lot rougher on the edges. If PoE didn’t introduce other issues (mostly due to it being free-to-play), then it would most likely be a strictly better game than Diablo II on all aspects.
As for posting, most people will be happy to help you improve and get through any issue you may have if you post about it politely and without complaining that Diablo II is terrible and PoE so much better. If you can’t do that, I am quite confident that you will join the ranks of the people that get repeatedly suspended on the forums.
Johnson you are the first person to have actually answered a pressing issue of why D2 is harder than POE
You are correct everything is far more archaic, POE took D2 cloned it and implemented tons of modern features so it plays like D2 with D3 convenience and speed.
A perfect game if you ask me.
There’s the issue that it’s suffering heavily from feature creep, though.
After a decade of implementing leagues and always keeping the content added in one form or another, it’s become a convoluted mess that only a few players that have been keeping up with everything for a very long time properly understand.
Sure, every single mechanic is, on its own, properly explained, but the accumulation of all of them makes it very hard for someone that isn’t going to copy-paste guides (or spend absurd amounts of time theory-crafting and testing) to create a character that properly does the content (that is to say, without dying).
Add to that periodically reinventing the wheel to force players to regularly redo all their builds, intentional inventory cluttering by the devs to force you to buy stash tabs, and the absence of offline to mod the game if you want to, and you get a game that is very unhealthy.
Typically, when I play Diablo II, I play offline hardcore and backup my saves. That means I have to do the bosses without dying, but I don’t get set back more than the current game session if I mess up. And since the wheel doesn’t get reinvented every season, I can keep my characters updated without too much effort. This makes for a healthy game that I’ll continue enjoying for a very long time.
I did play PoE long ago, but I wouldn’t touch it or its successor with a 10-foot pole nowadays.
Why are we discussing this with someone who can’t even beat NORMAL…
Do you seriously have nothing better to do than just trolling the forums and make stupid posts?
So why they didn’t make a new expac way back after LoD was 2 fold, first the story had been told and it was time to move on to D3 and the second reason was blizz became all hands on deck to get World of Warcraft out and we see how well that paid off
It’s just a graphic overlay, not even near a new game.
And to be honest I really don’t want this Dev team to make an expansion, if anyone ever will it should be a team that loves the old diablo and knows what they are doing.
