Why don’t Blizzard want to make cross-platform for offline saves? I’ve played many hours on PC and want to connect to my character from PS5 and continue my progress. Online mode allows this, but it’s impossible to play there because there are no players /x, no saving of map structure when, for example, I want to run around Kurast for chests, etc. And it turns out that the solution is either to make players /x for online, which they don’t want to do, or to make it possible to use offline saves on all their platforms, which no one is going to do either, it’s a shame.
Yeah, I preordered the game for both PC and PS4 hoping to play cross platform offline, ranted multiple times that other games like Civilization have this easily done, but sadly this will never going to happen for unknown reasons in D2. My PC copy is basically never used and I just sponsored the project.
What I discovered more frustrating recently, is that you cannot even migrate you saves from PS4 to PS5, so I was forced to quit playing, because I do not want to loose 300+ hours play time and start from scratch.
Oh man it is just a matter of copy/paste, but I guess no one cares about this project anymore other than to restart the ladder season occasionally.
Blizzard isn’t the problem here. The D2 character files are exactly the same on PC and console, and they are cross compatible. However they are encrypted on console, and more importantly Sony and Microsoft don’t allow you access to your save files. If you could access your save files and decrypt and encrypt them. Then they would all be cross compatible.
As far as I know, it’s only possible to do this with PC and PS4
