Why does NM cow level crystal sword not give 4 sockets with Larzuk quest?!

This is so stupid and annoying. New player here, just wanted to make spirit sword, it never dropped from normal cows, but of course drops a ton in NM, and I just wanted to make spirit but of COURSE the developers design it so that the crystal sword gets 6 sockets instead of 4 if the item is from NM. So dumb, so insanely stupid and dumb. I just wasted a Larzuk quest because of this bad design and I am understandably annoyed. Why code it that way? It just doesn’t make any sense, normal and NM should give 4 sockets and only hell should give 6.

This doesn’t make more sense than the current implementation. There are item lvl and they are responsible for the max sockets.

I wish they would show ilvl on items and allow information about max sockets ingame. There are plenty of sites for that information

I think the problem here is that the game doesn’t tell you about all the mechanics that you need to know about. It’s a problem with all diablo games. Items levels, socket limits are just some of those. But there’s also next delay. It affects the game a lot but you wouldn’t know it unless you trawl the wiki.

I don’t think the one intern that’s currently working on D2R has time to overhaul the UI though.

NM cows? 4os cs drop like flies everywhere in nm! Don’t waste your socket quests on garbage gear next time.

Because nightmare cow level is mlvl 64 and the ilvl range for a cs to get 4os from larzuk is 26-40. Normal cows are a guarenteed 4os. It’s been this way forever. Sure, there should be an option to actually view the ilvl of an item, but these devs are obstinate about changing the work we all loved only in the arbitrary ways they want frankly as casuals without any regard for what players want or what they are still advertising. They havent even bothered to finish the user interface basic mechanisms.

It’s a thing with the vast majority of games out there.

Its not question of development, its already developed in game to show ilvl since d2lod. There is simple setting for that in files, you just put 1 under “showlevel” column. They probably just dont want us to see it for some reason.
