Why do you keep leveling after 85?

I am just curious to know your reason to do Baal run to get extra levels. All the content in the game including Uber can be done at 85 or lower level.

Is it for the prestige?
More damage due to synergies?
The level goes up just by MF farming?
Or any other reason.

For me, it’s the extra damage from synergies for my sorc and it’s the extra vitality for my smiter. I stopped at level 90.

Druid build I am going for this ladder reset needs atleast level 95 before reaching its fullest potential. After 95 I dump the rest of my points into lycanthropy for +life. You also generally want to be higher level than 85 to be competitive in pvp.

Basically because I like running Baal/CS/Nila in company of people with which I have nice and funny conversations. Fast runs are demanding enough to not get bored, but still easy enough to just relax from work/responsibilities. It’s like meditation for me.

Because GG crafted ammy’s have level requirements of 92…and gambling at level 92 is better than 85.

Why acquire any more gear either? Indeed, why do anything beyond what is needed to complete the core content?

This is an arpg. Why ask why?

More skills and life for pvp.

At lvl 93, all gambled amulets will be above ilvl 88, which means it always has a chance to spawn 2 skill when crafted. 95 for gambled amulets in general.

If you are under lvl 93 some of the amulets have zero chance of spawning 2 skill when crafted.

Isn’t leveling a side effect of continuing to play that char?

I MF with my Char after 85, I hunt Keys, I gamble I craft, well those are done with my highest char.

I will agree I don’t do that on all my chars, only one or two.

More skill points, better crafting, overall prestige, take your pick!

Like I said in my OP, curiosity.

And I do appreciate some of the answer, I do not PvP so that a side of the game I did not taught about. Crafting and gambling are others thing I did forget, I always take my higher lvl when my stash are full of gold to gamble but now I am thinking about farming 3 extra level. For me it’s was time farming Lvl VS time saved farming gear/torch for another different build walkthrough. But gambling/crafting are good reasons.

Yes, gambling, crafting. Also you can get valuable drops while farming XP, for either that character or another.

But really your question answers itself. In an arpg people get intrinsic satisfaction just by maxxing their character’s power. It’s an end in and of itself, not just a means to an end.

Another question to illustrate the point is to ask why people pay such a high premium for perfect items. Right now in the trade forums a guy is offering runes for Griffon’s Eyes, 6 bers for 1 short of perfect, 11 bers for perfect. 5 bers to get ONE stat point on a character? Why?

All my characters are near the 90 mark I don’t plan on making all of them anymore than 90. However I have a zon that is half way to 96. The reason you ask is because it gives me stuff to dowhike waiting for next patch.

The level goes up just MF farming. current state theres no point aim for extra levels because builds are completed earlier and stuff. Would be fun change really ramp up character power with last 5 levels or so, wouldnt it :stuck_out_tongue:
With that being said, gonna probably reach 98 level before summer just by playing every now and then

I only level to 90-91 or so on most of my characters, and it’s not through Baal runs but just playing the game doing whatever I want and over time, you level up naturally. It’s true most builds are “finished” around level 85 and there’s little point to going past the early 90s unless you’re trying to be the most best hardcore type PvPer, or only play one or two characters and have nothing else to do but grind those last few levels.

It’s not hard to reach level 90-92 with mfing alone. I do this all the time with characters that I make that target either cows, uniques or travincal. The real challenge is level 94+.

I usually don’t farm much after beating hell Baal in single player. Online I do though.

Because it’s the only way to get to 99?

The secret Pig level at 99 of course

lvling past about 94 is definitely a pvp thing for me.

i only really “level” after 85 on purpose if its a pvp character that uses attack rating or high defense as it helps the attack rating formula. (or for enemys with high defense/level like ubers)

any other characters pasty 85 just gain levels as i play with them normally
