I mean, they’re an Elite level Unique armor, but they have a defense rating on par with some of the better Normal level Uniques, and they have laughable mods. Bump the defense rating by about 300 and give +1-2 to All Sorceress skills and I might consider them worthy of their Elite status, but otherwise they’re just a joke. This is especially disappointing because there aren’t really any solid Body Armors for the Sorceress.

you can upgrade your ormus robe to his exceptional version for more def, it still a cloth …
and tal rasha armor got 847 defense , skullder ire 700 …
I mean, sure, I could upgrade one of the Exceptional Uniques to make a decent Elite Unique. But that doesn’t make Ormus’ Robes good.

a +3 fireball on a sorc fireball user , and 20% fire dmg , add a facet, with a facet on weapon and helm , trust me it does alot more dmg than your armor with +2 all skills

Nothing wrong with upgraded Vipermagi. But that’s not the point I’m making. I’m asking about Ormus’ Robes, and why they seem like the devs are just playing a joke on Sorceress players.
Well sorceress is already s grade pick in my opinion. I don’t see any point make them even stronger.
I suppose that’s fair. It’s just that Ormus’ Robes seem out of place. Looking at the list of Elite quality Unique Body Armors, Ormus’ Robes stand out like a sore thumb because of their low armor rating and lackluster mods.
In particular, the fact that they have a skill bonus mod, but it’s limited to +3 to a single random skill, and can’t even be one of the level 30 skills. Is there any other Elite level equipment that has a skill bonus with such a restriction?

They’re actually pretty nice for blizz sorc. I use ormus robe for frozen orb/firewall and I don’t even have the right + skill on it. The boost to cold damage is big enough from the +% to cold damage. The defense is low but its sorceress gear, its not necessary to have high defense.
I’d love to get a firewall or fireball ormus.

I suppose perhaps some of my statements were hasty. I do still think that the armor rating isn’t on par for Elite quality Unique Body Armors, even if it’s aimed at a Sorceress (700 armor rating would be more reasonable than 400). And I do still think the limitations placed on the skill bonus are pretty strict for an Elite quality Unique.
That said, perhaps I’m selling some of the other bonuses a bit short. Faster cast rate, mana regen, and good skill damage bonuses are nothing to scoff at.
They sort of follow a lot of the elite unique items. Not excellent unless you get a good roll, but can still be very good. For a blizz sorc they’re probably nearly bis
I have a faceted 15f ormus with +3 fireball and i dont think it makes a huge difference, but i think blizzard would be a much better set. You already get +% dmg from fire mastery and the cast rate is high enough it cuts down 1 maybe 2 casts to kill on players1. Not saying im spec’d the best and am only lvl 89 but i think + to cold dmg would be much more beneficial since cold mastery knocks down resistance.
Right. They’re only good for the + cold damage. But for cold fire hybrid +3 firewall can be a pretty big boost too, not sure about fireball but at +3 it probably would be alright too.
The one I have is meteor I think, a skill I don’t use. Without trying to trade for something better the boost I get to frozen orb is pretty hard to replace
No you cannot upgrade the robes as they are already Elite level armor.

How would people know I’m telling the truth?
The real value is in the elemental damage boost and the +3 if you can get one with a skill you use. The defense stat shouldn’t be a huge factor. As a sorceress you shouldn’t be taking a ton of physical damage anyways. You can always throw one hard point into frozen armor to compensate.
So basically you just want it to be a better skin of the vipermagi? I’m onboard.
