Why do mercs take forever to turn might on? I just cleared the entire Bloom Moor and Den of Evil and Neeraj still hasn’t turned his might aura on.

Usually I’ll go in and let them start attacking something and after a few swings it pops on.
Yeah they actually have to hit something when entering a new zone, etc. to activate the aura.

my feeling is they need to take some damage before they cast it. I’ll just kind of stand aside and let him get smacked around until he turns it on.

Turning on auras is a chance on attack for merc. So if you never let them attack anything, they won’t activate. They basically decide between normal attack, jab attack and aura activation and the chance for aura activation goes down with levels (slightly).
Here are the stats for the might merc:
- To find out how often a mercenary will use a specific attack or skill, just divide the frequency of that attack or skill by the sum of the frequencies for all attack and skills. The limitations from the previous point still apply though.

Thanks for the info but I find this to be very stupid. It should be leave Sanctuary, turn on aura.
It sure is for 2022…
Some will say it is part of d2 original feeling and must be preserved and we want everything granted bc we think mercs should activate their aura once the game starts
Don’t forget to be told to go play D3.

If I pay them more, will they at least attack stuff while I’m attacking, instead of standing around with their thumbs up their butts? Or for that matter, will they figure out how to navigate through Arcane Sanctuary so I can at least get their auras? Clearly they are dissatisfied with something. You can see their hearts aren’t in it.
Sometimes it seems like my insight Merc will turn off Insight. I will be going along just fine with no mana issues, then slowly my mana burns away. I wait for my merc to catch up, but it doesn’t help. The only way I have found to turn it back on, is to TP back to town and return. Anyone else seeing this?
Because it’s called Aura of Might, not Aura of Will. 
I run an insight merc on my bowazon because multishot gobbles tons of mana. Never noticed that. Sometimes mana burns down because I am attacking fewer or high life mobs while other times I sustain when attacking lots and lots of low health mobs. Meditation aura is item based in that case. Should always be on.
I’ve definitely seen it. My wife and I can both have insight mercs, but both auras are off, and we run out of mana. Sometimes only one of our mercs has the aura off, sometimes both.
As I said, though, tping back to town turns them back on.
There’s a point to preserving D2.
I’m one of the people that want to preserve it within reason.
I’m not opposed to smart changes.
From as small as a Color change to a hero change I’m open to as long as it makes good sense.
Aura activation immediately for me is a no brainer in terms of it not breaking the integrity of D2
A welcome change if they were to do it but I’m not going to get upset if they don’t.
This is just my opinion though
