Why can't merc equipment bonehew?

He meets all requirements but when I equip it, it turns red… I have a -requirements jewel and a amn rune in it

I’m confused, are you able to equip it or not? if he can’t use it due to requirements he isn’t going to be able to equip it at all…

one side of the weapon menu looks “red” just to indicate nothing can be slotted there, are you sure you aren’t confusing yourself? does his damage increase? take a pic

Damage dosent increase I’m trying to figure out how to share the pics… it is equipped but red

Mercs can’t use -reqs. They still need to meet the full 195 strength of the ogre axe. IDK if it’s a bug or not, but it’s been like this since the start of D2R.

I just educated myself from a thread on reddit about this. OP leave the bonehew on your merc, leave the game and rejoin. does it properly display that he is using it then?

i was confused by this same issue

Put weapon on, then remove and reequip armor. That fixed it for me.

Ok yeah he is using it now. Rejoining fixed it. Thank you Guitars maybe I can het ancients done now lol…and both methods work. @Jedi thanks guys

weird bug but glad there is a decent solution, hopefully it will be a small fix they make one day
