Why are people always say they speak for the "vast majority"

Especially the Ploot - Remove Enigma - enhance droprate people claim their exclusive opinion to be the “vast majority” opinion but always the same 5-10 people support them in the threads?

Maybe because satisfied people don’t go into forums to ask for changes? So in fact the “vast majority” is fine with the done QoL changes and don’t need anymore?

Anything that makes the game inherently easier, shouldn’t be considered.

The difficulty was part of the allure. Becoming rich meant something. You werent slapped with a smiley face sticker at the entrance.

It was a great time to be a gamer.

Very well said.

I completely agree.

So true, these threads only have 500K+ posts because the same 5 people keep spamming their stupid ideas although their arguments got destroyed. :face_vomiting:

Being in the majority doesnt mean you will desire change that it good for the health and longevity of the game. Therefore Its not even a good argument.

Well, look at reddit or the survey from reddit. Its the other way: The same 5-10 purists trying to defend “their” game.

No, no my friend. It’s just that purists are not on Diablo subreddit because it’s mostly cringey content and people who played this game for 20 years are now 30+ years old. So you got a strong case of selection bias going on, on other forums cough jsp cough you will find thousands of people who agree with the purists.

For D2 veterans, I think that there are only a few things that the vast majority agree on with >90% solidarity relative to D2R changes:

  1. Optional auto-gold pickup
  2. More moo (no cow king death penalty)
  3. Shared stash

There may be more, but these are the 3 that come to mind immediately.

This ignores things like MrLlamaSC’s and other surveys where there are thousands of respondents supporting D2R changes in the majority.

Same reason they claim “The Game will Fail” if the thing they want isn’t done.
It’s a way to attempt to lay claim to authority that no one actually possesses outside the private world of Blizzard marketing.
Nobody commenting on these forums knows what the player base wants, prefers, or will buy. Even the experts with the information at their disposal guess wrong a majority of the time - that’s why game development is a high-risk occupation.

If you go to the right, self-selected place on the Internet, you can find thousands of people who think horse paste will cure Covid-19.
That’s why honest, intelligent pollsters and statisticians DO NOT USE self-selected polls.
Ever.

I think a lot of people would like changes, especially personal loot…but yes, I think maybe 5 people make up most of their posts on here.

You can also find places where people believe that people believe this.

And you can also find places where people believe that people believe that people believe this.

Well, yea I suppose that’s true.

I suspect that it is a small number (<30) of forum posters that make up the majority of both frequent pro and anti ploot forum posters on Blizzard’s D2R forum.

Wow there’s an enhance droprate crowd too? The rates were already lowered to account for less players. What do they want next, somebody to wipe their bottom?

vast majority are people who pre ordered and never came to forums. They preordered based on what the product says it is.

Remastered graphics—monsters, heroes, items, spells, all resurrected

Classic gameplay—the same Diablo II you know and love, preserved.

Most people buy a remaster, expecting to get a prettier version of a game on new hardware.

Because people in the west always think that the whole population thinks as they do. Fun fact is that they are a vocal minority.

oops sorry

I speak from the I played the game since release and it as plain as day that FFA Loot ruins the game PoV. =3 I wouldn’t care if I’m the only one in the world advocating for it. Everyone who thinks FFA Loot is better is just wrong. xD

I wouldn’t be opposed to removing Enigma either. It’s a dumb armor. Has so much of the meta stats people look for on a single item unlike any other runeword. Some runewords got stupid crap on them to balance them, but that logic wasn’t used for Enigma at all.

Also the PvP argument doesn’t work for it since the strongest PvP ever was, was during 1.09. When the armor did not exist in the game at all. During that time there were more games about PvP than there were about playing the actual game. xD So I’d argue that Enigma actually ruined PvP if anything.

I’d also like if they added items to the game that were scrolls and all they did was tell you runeword recipes or horadric cube recipes. Also put it into it’s own menu so you didn’t need to use out of game venues of getting information so much. Could make them about FCR or Block Rate information. Anything that tells you about hidden systems in the game really.
