While the AVX patch is out, blz-log.txt still lists the AVX init error. Since my i5-4460 (per Intel diagnostic tool) does support AVX, I’d like to know which AVX version specifically is required. A response is greatly appreciated as I plan to buy a new system soon.
To my understanding it was just a first gen AVX that was accidently put in during the launch version. The i5-4460 has up to AVX2 support so wouldn’t have any problems that require AVX.
Something else to check though is if your motherboard also supports AVX technology. Even if the CPU has it, if the motherboard can’t enable or support it then it’ll be the same as not having it.
Ok, thank you. If the motherboard indeed does not support AVX, am I on the safe side with this new patch? IOW, does the patch check for CPU and Motherboard AVX support?
This patch, to my understanding, removes any AVX requirement to run the game code.
