I finally got the full set of Rune words, where do you find a good base? Can I find one only in hell or can I find one in Nightmare cows? Can I take white item and socket it with buddies quest or does it have to be one of those grey items with three sockets in it already? And what defence am I looking for? I’m very excited this is my first Enigma. I was heavily addicted to Diablo 2 back in the early 2000’s and even then I couldn’t get the enigma so this is a big achievement for me and I don’t want to screw up.
best base armor to make an enigma is typically going to be either an ‘Archon Plate’ or a ‘Mage Plate.’
low strength requirements, letting you pump more points into vitality, plus good defense.

Dunno why ppl go for those, dusk shroud is 77 str and has more def by far

Any armor with 3 open sockets. Best ones being Archon and Dusk Shroud for high defense and lower strength req for resale purposes

Dusk is better than Mage Plate don’t buy a Mage Plate your losing value in your enigma unless it’s 15ed and you roll 775

Dusk Shroud is by far the best. It hit’s that middle spot between wanting higher str to get more armor and lower str armor because your goal typically is to use engima’s +str to be able to hold a monarch shield. It’s basically at the exact right spot for both goals.
The problem with dusk shroud is most people do not like how it makes there character look. If you want to wear a plate armor so your character doesn’t look like they are wearing normal cloths you got two options:
Option #1 prioritize not wasting stat points: mage plate is the best
Option #2 prioritize still having good defense: archon plate is the best

Superior 15%ed ligth plate ftw
I have a sup Mage Plate 10% ED with 288 Def on it.
It‘s pretty good for Enigma.
The reason is you can put it on real quick and it not take much strength. You‘ll get pretty much strength from the gear by itself.
If you have to Skill 100 + in This Atrribut to wear it, you‘ll have way to much strength then, because the buff hits.
Scarap Husk and Archon Plate are great opinions. Dusk also works. For PvM you can also check ” skins ” aka how they fit to your style. Also if you play PvM Barb then Sacred Armor if far by the best.
I got a 15 Ed wyrmhide waiting for a ber. Not much more str req than dusk
How… how could you have found jah and ber but not know some of these basic things about item bases?

The Best stand alone base is Dusk Shroud due to high defense and low strength req. If you want a good looking high defense base Archon Plate is best. Mage Plate comes in as best for a few reasons aswell such as it looks really good and has the lowest strength req for defense and is often used in pvp so people can allocate there stat points elswear.
Base items are white base items you find all over on the ground
Find a Dusk Shroud/archon/Mage Plate in white you can use the the cube recipe to try and roll 3 sockets or you can do it the easy way and buy a good base such as 15ed 3open socket base but that can get real pricey fast.
My suggestion is play in hell and pick up any Dusk Shroud/archon/Mage plate item you can find and use the cube recipe to try and roll 3 sockets in one of them
Any one of those items will be a great base for your Jah ith ber
Or spend a vex and get a 15ed base with 3 sockets in it, Dusk is most widely used between all classes because it’s high Def low strength req and all ur classes can use it without having to change to many stats around

If you really want the best base
For paladin Superior Archon 15ed 3 open socket
Pvp or low strength style points you’ll want Superior 15ed 3open socket Mage Plate and if you don’t care about metallic look Superior 3open socket Dusk Shroud is best for sorc or any low strength char
Wouldnt Mage plate still be better cause with Torch and Anni you have ZERO Str requirement so you get 25 extra vit out of the deal? (i guess it depends on class)

anyways, you are definitely correct for a Mage Plate.
Archon Plate is also sought after for its low strength requirements + high defense (particularly a Superior +15%ed, can net a person 2k+ defense)
Dusk Shrouds are definitely in that top 3 “Enigma” bases
