For instance, If I reset my pc and have to re-download the game do I lose my progress?
You will indeed lose your progress if you do not backup the saves which are usually stored locally in the game folder, C:/Users/Name/Games, or somewhere buried in AppData.
Damn. I wish they would offer a singleplayer offline where they store our characters.
Yes they are stored locally. I have a folder with my old single player chars on a thumb drive that I imported when I installed D2R, worked well.
How could they store your characters if you are playing offline?
They could take a snapshot of the char when you leave the game and that char wouldnt be able to enter public or online games but could be stored online. Its possible.
What do you mean by this? Restarting your pc will in no way affect your save games, nor will reinstalling the game. If what you mean by reset is wipe your drive, then yes you need to backup the saves manually.
Reformatting, I do believe.
This still requires you to be online.
Or just getting a new pc in general after the old one takes a crap. Would be nice to have offline chars stored on bnet.
The idea he’s trying to impose is that the game snapshots your offline storage every once in a while, so if you by chance forget to back up your offline characters, you have the option to go to Blizzard to get them back.
It requires to be online for a brief moment as char is saved. It does not require you to play online, theoretically.
Your offline characters are stored in “C:\Users\Name\Saved Games\Diablo II Resurrected”
Or you could just take a snapshot of your folder every once in a while and upload it to a dozen online storage sites or a local flash drive. Is it that hard?
All these people are wrong. Your offline char are stored in a black hole about a billion light year away.
