What's the point of this PTR?

stopped reading after the 20 first post

just to say
THEY SAID 1 WEEK LATER THEY WILL ANNOUNCE THE OTHER STUFF THAT THEY HAVE COMING…IT WAS ANNOUNCED THE SAME DAY AS THE EIGHT RUNEWORD REVEAL

historically, statements like these are made with dorito fingers.

You must have missed the part where PTR also ends in a week…

I am sure you speak from experience

likely not items so they dont have the players testing for them for the rest

my guess would be these
char slots
stackable inv
maybe some QoL like charm inv…or quest made repeatable…or even quest bugging fixed(cain, anya, palace guards)

Yeah, things that actually require testing before pushing to live servers…

nah. my sh*t don’t stink

ummm…isn’t that doable without players for those ?

This PTR do NOT solve any of the problems of the under utilized classes… but just adding more issues:

  1. Another useless items (the helms, claws and the hustle armor)
  2. Adding clunkiness into the game with yet another 2 pre-buff items (metamorphosis and hustle weapon)
HOW HARD IS THAT TO UPDATE THE EXISTING RUNEWORDS AND magic/rare/unique items?
This game has literally hundreds items which are USELESS in their current state!
If you want to fix a class - SIMPLE, JUST FIX THE SKILLS, how u did for throw mastery! With a single change in Throw mastery and fixing the pierce, this class actually was no longer dead…
How hard is to add CB to bear form or skills? How hard to make charge-up skill or finisher (or even claw mastery if you want) to NOT consume charge?
Why is this obsession with the idea a build to be created around 1 item?!?
Please… you already made me not playing D4, DO NOT RUIN D2R! Please listen to the community and content creators who actually kept the game alive for so long…

dont over expected. other note maybe just bug fix. if they add more stuff after ptr, chance are like sunder charm S2 bug when season 2 starts. too risky

It’s a two-pronged issue. First and foremost this is a focused PTR with a very narrow focus - in this case, the runewords. This focused PTR, although somewhat of an issue in and of itself, is likely due to the other more overarching issue: Activision. We’re seeing what happens on the World of Warcraft side materialize here, which is things are being rushed and put out before they’re ready.

You can see that in the wording from PezRadar. Blizzard itself wants to fully flesh 2.6 testing out, but they can’t. Activision’s calling the shots here just like they did with the maligned 10.0.5 patch release for WoW (seriously, go check the bug report forum there - it’s almost literally on fire right now). Blizzard traditionally prefers at least a two week PTR, sometimes even a month long one just so they can let us kick the tires and have our test drive too. You’re seeing crunch in action folks. Everything is being pushed before it’s ready so ATVI’s quarterly report looks better on paper. I have no doubts after seeing the wording in that post that this also ties into the revelations about the stack ranking system Activision is forcing upon Blizzard.

Your issue here isn’t with the devs. They’re working on more than you’re seeing here. Your issue is with Activision’s upper echelon destroying Blizzard’s ability to produce top notch content or even communicate properly at all levels from the inside out.

But the D2R team are a completely different studio?

Care to elaborate? “assessment” is a very healthy and much needed process, sadly missing from state organisations typically. What do you think they are doing wrong?

They trash bro, alt f4 them.

Free Marketing and Hype. Also content for streamers, for more free marketing and free hype.

They use a stacking system or “vitality curve”, where they have to allocate “the worst” and “the best” based on each other. It’s a bell curve and requires managers to meet a quota of low-rank evaluations. In Blizzard’s case, the low ranking is called ‘developing” and is expected to apply to around 5% of the employees being reviewed by team leaders. This means that if everyone on a team is performing well, team leaders are forced to just pick people to take a hit. What makes it even worse is that the employees that receive these ratings will be overlooked for bonuses, potentially receiving raises, and even promotions.

people are real quick to blame their corporate overlords, but…i feel like some things should just be expected of them.

If they want something by February, give them something by February. If you can’t deliver what you want by then, Work on it overtime, and instead, deliver what you CAN by February. Maybe what you WANTED to come out in February can come out next season.

shrug. Maybe I’m an idiot. And don’t understand how the world works.

step 1 : get a ptr to test thing
step 2 : say you actually wont use it to test thing and you will directly implement stuff
step 3 : ???
step 4 : profit

Blizzard are clowns

its their issues for having irreasonable dead line then, wouldnt you say ?

It’s not unreasonable if they gave you the deadline before you started working on it.

the ladder reset being mid february is a rather recent information, so its not that

well it’s expected for the ladder to reset every few months, isn’t it?
