What's the point of this PTR?

Per PezRadar:

Developers had over 3 months to come up with something and here we are at PTR and are being told that all they could muster was a PTR for 8 runewords.

At the same time, we are being told that, once again, changes that matter will be rolled into the live patch without testing…

Why have a PTR at all? For any meaningful changes to the game are pushed through without any semblance of testing…

This PTR is a complete joke…

If the rumors of that I’ve seen out of China are true, Blizzard is hard-pressed to meet their deadline for Diablo 4 in June. That it looks like it will have to get delayed unless miracles happen. So they are probably pulling from all over the company to try and get that deadline done.

This means we will likely continue to get a token effort over here until then. The absolute bare minimum and attention. Just enough to say they haven’t already put the game on maintenance mode.

Not to mention Blizzard’s stacking system of employee assessment which certainly leaves the crew at a low morale. One of the original wow developers who was on the classic team just left over it. The company’s a bit of a mess because of poor executive decisions in their apathy towards the employees. It’s all come downhill and hit us. And will continue to hit us.

i just focus on this

I don’t think much else is happening in this patch. No gem or rune stacking. No /playerx. No stash in tabs. We get mediocre runewords. I could be wrong but these are highly unlikely. I wouldn’t even expect ladder to non ladder runewords being craftable. I’ve been pestemistic about everything in this game since the big lie about the 2.4 runewords being non ladder craftable.

Wait wut? Has the industry discovered a new, lower bar, than minimum viable?

Yeah, pushing the real changes without any testing…

That would require actual effort…

D2R hasn’t been a priority in any sense since the initial cash grab…

yeah, thats concerning
maybe it cant even be called “real change”

WW changes were a untested/stealth “real change” case in point. They even left it out of the patch notes until it was discovered by players :eyes::rofl:

If you want playerx go play single player. No need or reason to put playerx in online.

i think we have different definitions of “real change”

but i can see why this would be something meaningful for you just by looking at your avatar

the same way summons carrying over games would be for me

there are plenty of reasons to bring it to bnet

no there isn’t? Please do tell all of the reasons that would make it beneficial to bring it to bnet.

Been playing Necro and Druid more recently.

The Barb avatar is the one that is the closest resemblance to the original D2 artwork…

So they can say they did.
And maybe, just maybe, they make a minor tweak if many people are upset with something.
They will ofcourse do what they intended, but in a way people think they were heard…atleast those on reddit, official forum knows better.

is this a question?

we have plenty of threads for that, some among the top ones right now, but i will summarize

  • being able to create games with a few players but with higher difficulty
  • easier access to the difficulty system for solo players in bnet
  • the death of splitfarming, which is far from ideal MP
  • the death of leeching, bc those who can carry will be on their own
  • the capability of solo lvling in a reasonable time not gatekeeped behind MP
  • clear view of the MP system without its bandaid so we can properly improve it

reasons to keep the current system (no p8)

  • to keep leeching a thing
  • to keep splitfarm a thing
  • to keep the edge of closed groups
  • to keep the edge of multi accs

a “solo player”, who happens to be in a game with more “solo players”, should not get a better gaming experience than a solo player

but i need tbh with you
i would trade p8 in bnet for the removal of unpartied bonuses so MP can be about grouping and not the opposite

No Charm inventory
No SSF / Instanced loot ladder
No Corruptions
No Boots / GLoves for merc
no mapping system or legit end game
boring new runewords

Mods for D2 simply do it better along with POE!

0 reason to download this PTR and 0 reason to play season 3

I just don’t understand why release the RW without the melee changes required to make them viable??? Testing the RW only confirmed what we already knew:

Quintuplet melee helms: Decent, although ‘Hearth’ and ‘Cure’ aren’t going to see any play. Bulwark great

Metamorphosis: Pretty good, but switching forms for buffs is incredibly annoying.

Mosaic: Fine needs ignore defense, maybe 300-350% ED, really MA just needs massive buffs and QoL changes to be even close to viable

Hustle armor: Bad, needs low level vigor. I’d rather run treachery at this point. Ko too expensive.

Hustle Weap: GG prebuff stick for all melee builds. Really disgusting. I doubt whoever made this RW knows how BoS works. Just saw the name and thought “yeah makes sense.” Makes fanatacism unnecessary. Destroys end game weapon market. Needs to just be removed entirely.

i have too say 110% on spot op :+1:

Yea completely pointless.

Math is all you need to “test the RWs”

Feedback provided without “testing”:

Developers did no internal testing on these runewords. Metamorphosis “buffs” disabling casting of spells in human form is case in point.
