What's the difference between a TOME and a scroll?

I’ve used scrolls before… they are a 1 time use.
How does a TOME differ?

Who else is lovin the graphics and cool loot?!
I’m still such a noob… but when I get an Armor or weapon upgrade, it’s FUN!!

Tomes hold a bunch of scrolls in less inventory space, basically.

Can’t play cuz the character server deleted my Amazon. Just waiting for a fix.

Yeah, each char will want one tome of each type. Then you fill it with individual scrolls you get. It saves inventory space and is quite useful.

graphics are amazing. i would love to be able to play the game. it closes within 30 seconds. apparently a 3080 FE is not enough to run a game that worked fine in both betas.

So far loving it. Best way to get back into d2.
And yeah, you’ll keep one tomb of each type on every char, though eventually you’ll stop picking up every scroll.
Cain can identify for free, so you’ll only use ID scrolls in the field when you want to see if the item is worth holding onto, and you never need more then a full book of port scrolls.

I now stuff them in the shared tab so other chars I make can start with full tomes without me spending gold on them. Kind of nice.

That’s such a good idea, I always forget to share with my future selves :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

It’s all about the server load. So many users hitting the servers at once. It’s like a DDoS attack, but with valid traffic. The client machine and hardware doesn’t really matter at all. I feel you, though. This is annoying.

1 tome can carry 20 scrolls

Ok, but did you know that 20 scrolls can fit in 1 tome? Interesting stuff.

It is kind of fun. I set them up with a little kit:

  • Tome of Town Portal (full)
  • Tome of ID (full)
  • Key stack
  • Sash for potions
  • Potions for the sash + a few extra
  • Starter rings/ammy
  • Gold in the Shared stash tab for them to put in their personal tab - repairs!
  • Decent 3 socket bow and some chippies is nice too for the char or merc

A good way to grind exp is to put cubes in there, make the level one, take your cube then go get a new cube.

The cube room always has a unique monster!

It feels good to have a cube on the fresh toon, too.
