What's the deal with Anya's Personalization? (seems broken)

In Act 5, I completed Anya’s quest to kill Nihlathak, then she lets you “personalize” an item. I picked Bloodfist (gloves), it literally says “Personalized Bloodfist”. No character name or account name, nothing. So are everybody’s personalized items all going to be labeled “Personalized”, literally? Am I missing something, here? Playing on Xbox Series X for the record. Does anything different happen on other platforms?

Also, on my character tab, it just says my gamertag, not my character name, which I can only see just before I start a game. I’m guessing the game is confused as to what people are called so it just defaults to “Personalized”…

Well ironically, it does what it say lol.
I havent done it yet but if it was just a “personalized” then yea, something seem wrong.

It must be bug, should be your character name on it

Saw this too, it’s probably a placeholder and the developers forgot to implement it.

It’s something they should be able to easily fix with the first update.

Has anyone tried to log on PC and see if it’s any different? I’m curious if it will say your character’s name, your PSN ID/Gamertag, or if it still sais Personalized.

Several weeks and updates later, same issue exists. Fortunately, this isn’t as big of a problem as some other that STILL haven’t been fixed.

Well they’ve had bigger issues to deal with. This probably get fixed in 6 months or so.

The problem is that no where actually in game is our character names used. Unlike on PC, you can have same names as others, because they aren’t actually seen by any one or seen by youself even in game. Weird, in first week when making a new character and naming it would check the name, normal, but now it don’t, at least not that I see. And they actually have the same default “generated” names any one can use. So it is clear to me that when it comes to our character names there is some disconnect on console… pretty weird though… and more and more I discover about the inner workings of how this game was made, the more and more confused I am why no cross play and why weird things like this with the names??? Is the real answer simply they are lazy cheap bastards? Don’t want to have cross play servers? They easily could have all the servers there is now, plus cross play servers. And then give us option if we want cross play or not. And cross play characters are separate from pc or console only characters. It isn’t that hard to set up. I don’t understand…

then again look how cheap they were with servers we have right now… cant even handle the player base, thus queues. Spend the damn money.

I think the reason this doesn’t work is because you basically have no character name on console you have console name

They should give us a choice to go by gamer tag or character name. I would prefer character name.

Im having same issue on PS4. I think its primarily a console glitch. If you havent already. Head on over to the report a bug forum. Post about it. Hopefully if enough noise is made about it. They might do something.

Because, “Personalized Gemmed Crystal Sword” just doesnt seem all that personal.

Same thing happening to me aswell.

It’s the same thing with ears. I killed some assassin that didn’t tp for andy quest credit and when i took their ear it just said “ear” assassin.

Sounds like Blizz doesn’t want another law suit

The engineer forgot to put the formatter on. lol

I’m pretty sure this is by design.

For whatever reason all ways to reveal your character name to other players have been removed on consoles, including via personalization. No idea why but I don’t like it.
