So Im not really sure what to call it, break point, max mf. whatever. Just out of curiosity I went to LOD and made a mf sorc with averageish mf around 300 then made some charms which is total added it to be around 3600 MF. I find so much more uniques and hard to find uniques with 3600 but heres the question.Wheres the actual line between good mf and too much. For instance when Im running my pindle runs.Ill run like 600 MF because Im specifically looking for rare items to drop more but not uniques. When Im mfing bosses Ill drop down to around 350 because I do get more unique drops. Is there actually a definitive answer to what is too much and whats too little.I find myself often switching out charms/items for more or less magic find.I understand getting 3600 mf in D2r is actually impossible but it was just an observation, it might be breaking the game when the mf is that high, I mean my first Diablo run (with players 8) dropped Reapers,Stormshield and Griffons. So I think that much mf is breaking the games calculations but if the drops are the same in d2r as d2 is begs the question when you see pit runners running 1000mf in d2r there has to be a reason
There is no breakpoint as such, but 350-400 MF seems fine (see graph)

It’s a diminishing returns type situation. After 250-300 if your main goal is uniques then putting more MF on will give you dramatically less useful MF.
You have to keep in mind that there’s diminishing return if you have more Magic Find.
my goal isnt actually finding uniques, i just run a lot in pindle for the rares
400 is roughly where the MF goes downhill for rares. So I would aim around there, anything more is extra if you have space.
All preference really but you are getting 1/3ish the MF per point but it doesn’t diminish nearly as fast as uniques.
Biggest negative of going higher is if you are after base items. Better chance they will be magic or higher.
I agree but certain enemies like pindle who likes to drop rares seems to drop more with more mf.Yeah I agree on the higher mf is magic for sure.Especially when im doing pit runs.Ill drop my auradins mf down to I dunno like 200mf when Im running pits cause a eth base sacred armor with high defense is worth like 6x as much as a decent griffons.I have found like 3 windforces, a few grandfathers, 4 griffons by now, 4 DW’s (3 still on a mule) but im always looking for those nice bases.I give decent bases away cause im not really concerned with making a profit in the game but finding the GG AF items. which has only happened once and I mean GG item not an “okay” item. One of the GG items you see ppl praising about…which I found early into D2R’s life and sold off and wish I never had lol
