Whats the appeal for playing D2R for 20 years?

I know that D3 uses Greater Rifts
POE uses Heist, Shaper, Delve end game content etc which is really good
plus POE has endless addition of content.

In the case of D2 what do people do for end game and does Blizzard release any updates do we have seasons and stuff?

Do you get any rewards and stuff for completing a season or anything like that?
Do they add new items for a new league?

Also how do you prevent yourself from just downloading a save file from someone else and unlocking everything in D2 Online, if you were to do that would you then get bored of the game?

I wonder why they would even allow online save files to be shared.

thankfully the reward is the gear you find along the way. the path is whatever you want it to be, you can farm lvl87 areas or grind baal / nihl for xp. diablo 2 is choose your own adventure.

some people adventure includes killing others in HC to ruin their experience.

diablo 2 was before the time of random points and accomplishments. thank goodness.

ok very nice sounds interesting so far I am enjoying it but hated this game at first but now that my brain is reprogrammed I am starting to slowly enjoy it more am at level 12 now.

My only fear is if I get tempted to download a save file and unlock everything but I am trying to avoid that. I am playing Online mode ladder, btw what do those save files do?

Do they just give you max character level or do they also give you gear? I hope they don’t give you any gear.

BTW do you get to play in groups in this game to do a “raid” or what its called or is it strictly solo?

Save files will only work in single player. Online you can play with up to 8 players per game.

you can’t just mod your player in online play, you would have to play offline, so enjoy the grind :stuck_out_tongue:

ok wonderful so just to clarify save files only work in OFFLINE mode yes?

Thats correct. Single player also has the option to change the simulated difficulty and reward of the game through the /players X command.

There are pros and cons to online/offline

ok great thanks a lot appreciate it…

Your post count doesn’t mean squat, please be quiet troll, you go from one topic seemingly knowing about 4 socket shields yet you don’t know how to get weapons?

:100:% troll.

How do you prevent yourself from looking at the answers to a puzzle game before figuring it out yourself?

We older gamers appreciate the journey more than the destination… something that is lost on the younger generation of gamers.

We care less about the shiny rewards and ribbons and more about the things it took to get them.

Back then, we had open bnet if we wanted to just fool around with hacked characters. But that got boring quick.

D2R has best itemization system and still plays very smoothly. PoE plays clunky AF and has overly complex spell web system. D3 plays probably the best but ultimately gameplay feels cheap. Lost Ark feels like a typical korean mmorpg. All other arpgs suck.

You don’t find d2r fun? Fine, the beauty is we have so many arpgs to choose from. Let’s cherish the fact they all aren’t copy cats of one another.

Well, there is no appeal really. What’s the appeal of smoking or drinking beer for 20 years? Some people got used to it and continued.

It’s basically slot machine/gambling addiction without the danger of ending up broke and homeless. Only point of D2 is to roll the slots over and over and over again, killing mobs with worst AI imaginable by pressing one button for hours.

There really is no difference to a casino. Now, I’m sure someone will come and tell me all about the story and gameplay this game has for sure.
