What to make first? enigma or infinity?

I have a 40/50 poison / lightning javazon. Would infinity or enigma improve my farming ability? Currently I am wearing skulders with gem. So i would reduce my mf, but would the dps increase substantially with infinity? Currently my poison is doing 2415/sec + lightning damage not to mention the flexibility poison/lightning/melee has.

Anyway, which do you think would be more beneficial for mf?

I would say go for Enigma first make a Hammerdin cause there’s hardly any magic immunes in the entire game except in baals room mostly i believe

My understanding is it substantially breaks immunes (Infinity). Though I haven’t made either of these. If it’s for your jav and you primarily run cows with her like I do then I’d go with that. Enigma if you play anything else at all. :smiley:

I’ll second the idea of make an enigma for a hammerdin instead of forcing a Javazon. Personally, I use Javazon exclusively for cows, GF barb for Trav, and hammerdin for everything else.

If you’re in love with zon, making infinity first will boos your damage considerably, but the utility of enigma can’t be stressed enough.

I usually start as a sorc, and make a HotO with my first Vex. I then build up to Enigma and swap to hammerdin. I then build toward Infinity and switch back and fourth between hammerdin and light sorc for farming. I always build a smiter as I find gear and a bo barb on a second account (used as a free call to arms from a second pc)

I usually build for my sorc and paladin in this order:

Heart of the Oak
Enigma
Infinity
Call to Arms
Fortitude (hammerdin merc, sorc merc uses trechery)
Chains of Honor

i quit my zon and d2 in general 19-20years ago before runewords came out. so in short, yes zon is my bread and butter mf and mass killer in any location. I do find that things can die a little slow at times, e.g. travincial takes too long as i rely on poison kiting which takes around 30-45 secs. im hoping that such places might only take 15secs or so.

When you say utility, are you referring to teleport benefits to a zon? or are you referring to its usefulness in a range of builds for all characters?

I’m referring to the latter. I don’t think enigma is crucial for a zon, but without it, you won’t be effective at getting to bosses, key bosses, or certain zones for farming.

I would only play zon for clearing cows or doing baal runs, so enigma would only be moderately useful. I’d build the infinity and join someone else’s cow games. Infinity is a massive damage boost compared to enigma, so the question becomes, is it more important to get to the farming location quickly or to kill everything at that location quickly.

good point. my farming locations (all solo) are hall of pain 4-8mins, chaos sanctuary 8mins, worldkeep 6-15mins depending on map, cows, 10mins. I’m not a fan of just boss killing as i found that more bodies means more chance for rune drops and most of my mf gear is found on mob on the way to the boss. thanks for the tip. you have helped me made a decision.
