What skill you always wanted to play but never actually did because it’s bad or lacklustre

I know some played everything but

What is your “too bad it’s bad cuz it would be cool”?

Well back in 1.09 we used to make throw barbs for fun, and they were actually pretty useful. I’m told they’re moderately useful nowadays, but I doubt they’re as powerful as they were in 1.09.

Its llike ~90% of combat skills

All my fav skills were nerfed firstly by 1.07 - CastDelays added then destroyed in 1.10 due to terriBAD synergies:

BLIZZARD and BLESSED HAMMER muahahahahaahaaha      :face_vomiting:

  • FireWall - CRAP dmg crap syn
  • Meteor - terrible impact time
  • Hydras - buffed but still BAD as 30lvl skill
  • FrozenOrb - nerfed by CastDelay addon then destroyed by terriBAD synergie
  • Vengeance - no comment
  • HolyFreeze - cr4p
  • HolyBolt - rare and overall sh1t
  • MoultenBoulder - slow, bad DMG, CastDelay… overall sh1t
  • ChargedBoltSentry - sh1t
  • WakeOfInferno - sh1t
  • all ele Arrows - all sh1ts

all these skills could be EZ fixed/buffed by few clicks in excel LOL, lower CDs, 5x %synergie buff, then less synergies… DONE! :grimacing:

and less than 1h

WASD ftw :money_mouth_face:

Pls let them be joined by Trollok and Clayclown12

Rabies Druid with Poison Creeper. Creeper makes the game unplayable, and damage is too low in hell.

Frenzy, Zeal. Sucks in P4+.

All Necro builds use CE. This skill is OP! No one plays pure armymancer or poisonmancer, not to mention bonemancer.

Summoner Druid is fun in P1, but too weak for anything else.

Yeah creeper and rabies just ain’t a good fit for how poison is coded. Either play rabies or improved creeper

Indeed melee skills have a rough time when compared to aoe casters that can clear screen faster than melee walks toward the target
Splash could definitely help that

Agreed CE is garbage in terms of balance and cannibalizes any necro build diversity. Should definitely have a fixed small explosion with a limited damage growth

Summons are however an excellent meat shield when playing a fury/summon hybrid druid and particulary great when dealing with bone fetish (dolls) which is probably one of the worst mobs to face as a melee char, when u see those pesky little dolls, take a step back and let ur wolves turn them into dog food. The summons turn the fury druid into one of the safest melee builds and completely prevents u from getting swarmed and surrounded no matter how many enemies u engage and this build can definitely do P8 chaos sanc np. Actually one of the laziest melee builds i have played and u can easily do 50-100 chaos sanctuary runs without using a single pot and using 1 button only

I wouldn’t mind fend being fixed but otherwise there’s no other skill that I wish was viable.

Inferno. Playable Firebat in Diablo when?!

I’ve always wished Immolation Arrow was a thing. Ideas of just exploding arrows to leave intense burning ground, and even using Freezing Arrow to pin them in place.

Closest possible to make it viable is like in this video

But ultimately, it’s requires WASD so you can shoot it while walking, that would be amazin

I am talking about pure Summoner build which starts struggling on P3.

.

Well that’s mostly because they are bland

All the same flavour

They become much more interesting when given proper identity

Ie:

  • Raven cold damage+phys
  • Spirit wolf magic damage + phys
  • Fenris fire damage + phys
  • Grizzly physical damage + aoe (just give it stunless Warcry)

So would a pure summon necro if u didnt use CE, think of fury being the druids alternative to CE. I think its pretty clear from the damage numbers that druid summons was not meant to be used as the primary source of dps even though it can be done. In its current state the druid summons are really usefull and made things a lot easier when playing on a budget or used as meat shields for endgame builds like the fury druid. I even use all the wolves and bear on my wind druid and i must say they make a huge improvement to overall survivability and in fact feels way better than having max block

I see, you are promoting your mod here, and maybe it’s a good mod, but that doesn’t help me since I am playing on Bnet and won’t go for Singleplayer.

Yeah, that’s true. Maybe it’s okay this way, AFK-builds shouldn’t be that strong to solo P8 games.

.

That’s why Raven is a spamskill
Brings an active part of the archetype

Where did I mention my mod there? I just said why it’s bad and how it could be better

It’s not about helping you, if you make the choice to play the worst version of the game it’s up to you

They are not even worth using after u finish nightmare, a hybrid build is better and the 20 points are better spend elsewhere. Ravens dont benefit from auras resulting in their dps being kind of meh on hell difficulty and their blind effect overrides curses like amp damage and decrepify + they are temporary minions and not really usefull for a hybrid char. They are however a decent option for carrying ur char through normal and nightmare with ease without caring too much about gear progression

All the stationary skills are going to be bad.

Firewall damage number isn’t bad, but it doesn’t hit many things and never for long enough that the damage has time to tick.

Meteor is a useless skills. You could make it instant, and you’d still have a skill that moves too slowly to be effective. To fix it, you’d need it to cast instantly and create a nova with its impact damage. Even then, it’s probably still too slow.

Hydras have too many synergies for not enough damage. They should spit fireballs.

Forb is one of the few good skills in terms of design, just not as a standalone for a build because of the cast delay. It has one synergy that adds a deceptively large amount of damage because of how the skill works. It’d be nice if there wasn’t any cast delay so that Forb could be a stand alone build. Blizzard has the same problem, but with more synergies.

Vengeance is overloaded with synergies and can miss/be blocked. An overall useless skill.

Holy Bolt is a throwaway skill, even as a synergy. It’s design concept has no reason to exist in D2.

Holy Freeze and Fire are both bad skills if you’re spending points on them. Freeze doesn’t have the “stack these 2 RWs for level 30” option, unless you’re a barb, but even then, the damage is bad. There’s just nowhere to go with Holy Freeze builds on any class.

The entire fire side of druid elemental skills are garbage all the way down to how the synergies work. Really, the druid class as a whole is undercooked. So is assassin.

All the trap builds are mediocre outside of duels.

The elemental arrow builds have no decent gear support, and bad wave clear. They even managed to ruin standard bowzon by turning multishot into a synergy. Enjoy having a multishot that gains no power beyond rank 23 but still has an increasing mana cost per rank. Bowzon stocks are in the gutter.

Just need to give them identity that overcomes their single+stationary nature

Ie:

  • vengeance now applies +all elemental damage while swinging

This buff the skill itself by making flat ele damage from gear and skill no be garbage. The gnasher works awesome in that context

But also buffs any other effect active while swinging, making stuff like voice of reason proc or holy auras very happy

Or

  • Sacrifice now adds magic damage equal to the life sacrificed to its attack. Sanctuary aura frequency increases while swinging

Pretty self explanatory why it’s good for the skill
