I saw a paladin in multiplayer who look like he had all of the auras under him. What allows this?
I’m wondering what you saw. Without seeing it, it’s hard to say. However, you are able to wear multiple different items that would allow you to have an aura active while equipped. Take a look through the runewords for some examples, but it’s common to see holy shock and/or holy fire while also having conviction active.
Or maybe they were wearing a “Plague” and had cleansing mixed with concentration or something. Point being, you can find some fun combinations when you have the ability to make some runewords!
Edit: I also wonder if you saw someone with “Salvation” active, which looks like multiple colors

Theres a couple variants and like iGanc said there are lots of items that grant auras.

It’s so easy to get lots of auras with Paladins and Merc’s:
Meditation aura: Insight via A2 Merc or from Paladin itself.
Cleansing aura: Cleric’s wield it via Plague or via A5 Merc. Cure also yields it and synergizes with A2 Prayer Merc’s.
Prayer aura: Popular A2 Merc variant while Paladin can also wield it at same time/level as A2 Merc for extra heal.
Thorns aura: Primarily yielded via Bramble. Outside of Pacifist, don’t really know of any Paladin that uses it as a main aura.
Holy Fire(Dual Dragon + HoJ). Used on Dragondin’s with Conviction as main aura
Holy Shock(Dual Dream). Used on Tesladin’s with Conviction as main aura
Holy Freeze(Doom). Rare to use Holy Freeze given its only level 12. Slow on it is insane. Conviction is main aura
Conviction aura: Infinity or via Paladin itself
Might aura: Yielded by A2 Merc or Last Wish on A5 Merc’s
Concentration aura: Main aura of Hammerdin’s but also yielded by Pride(A2) or Mist(A1)
Fanaticism aura: Faith runeword(A1), Hustle(A5 or main character) or Paladin itself(main aura)
Defiance(Exile): Smiters use this for the aura + Life Tap.
Resist Fire: Flickering Flame runeword(A1, A3 or main character itself(Paladin, Amazon, Druid, Assassin and Sorceress benefit)).
All told, a Paladin could theoretically yield 5 auras plus w/e you want from your Mercenary.
Helm: Flickering Flame(Resist Fire) or Cure(Cleansing)
Armor: Bramble(Thorns)
Weapon: Hustle(Fanaticism) or Plague(Cleansing)
Shield: Exile(Defiance)
Main Aura: w/e it wants
Mercenary(A2): Prayer, Blessed Aim, Holy Freeze or Might
Weapon: Insight(Meditation), Infinity(Conviction) or Pride(Concentration)
Armor: Bramble(Thorns)
Helm: Cure(Cleansing), Flickering Flame(Resist Fire)
i mean if u look at my fury druid
i have:
resist fire (from Act 3 merc flickering flame)
Cleansing ( from merc plague)
oak
fade, (from treachery prebuff)
chilling armor (from fort)
and metamorphosis gives me two more visual effects, once each for bear and wolf

Don’t forget they added Insight to Bows now, so you can get from A1 merc also.

As written seems a bit clunky.
I know they added Insight to Bows for A1 but I never use it because she doesn’t have Prayer to synergize with it. Sad to say but the only reason she gets any use whatsoever is due to Faith(and MAYBE Mist). So long as Fanaticism largely remains a Bow runeword mechanic for Mercenaries, she’ll always see use.
As for Fanaticism, Hustle can be made into any 3 Socket Weapon so technically ANY Mercenary could wield it. However, being level 1, its Aura Range is crap and the Mercenary that would most likely use it would be Act 5 since A2 has other Weapon alternatives(Infinity, Insight and Reaper Toll being the most obvious) and A1 has Faith + Mist + Ice. Only an idiot would give A3 Hustle when Spirit exists. Outside of that, the main character can wield it or the Paladin himself can use it as the Main Aura.

Running a Sorc, my goto is a Prayer merc with Cure+Insight… Of course the mana regen everyone loves, but with Cure/Insight/Prayer synergizing with each other, it’s like being constantly healed by a super health potion. And the mercs health regenerates QUICK.
I only run 2 Pally’s… Zealot and Tesladin.
Not uncommon to have Fanata, Defiance, Might and Concentration up all at once.
Zealot;
Fanata (main Skill), HolyShield (always on), Defiance (Exile), Might (LastWish), and Concentration (Mist on Act1 Merc).
Tesladin;
Conviction (main skill), HolyShock (Dream set), HolyShield (always on), Might (LastWish), and Concentration (Mist on Act1 Merc).
Each has 4 Aura’s always constant, but swaps in 1 pointers such at Cleansing, Redemption and Salvation…
Running Plague (Cleansing), Cure/Phoenix (Redemption) much less Bramble (Thorns) on a Merc with a Pally is a waste of Merc skills, as all those Aura’s are 1 point wonders (except Thorns, but, not for a Pally… need a Necro-Army or Druid-Zoo to make sense of that), especially with +skills gear/charms.
AuraDin, Vengeance and Dragon builds also forego Enigma… up to you…
