Well, Ladder season 2 has arrived tomorrow. I thought a more positive topic might be in order. What is everyone planning to use as their starting character. Personally, I am torn between two builds I have wanted to try for a while and never put the time into. The first would be a fireclaws / summon druid hybrid.
20 fire claws, 20 firestorm, 20 spirit wolf, 20 bear. That would give fire, cold and physical damage types proably paired with an act 3 fire merc with plauge to add fire damage and AR to everything on my kit.
Alternatively, I was considering a kick assasin.
Dragon talon 20, venom 20, fade as needed and some traps to suppliment, like a small amount of blade shield or blade fury and perhaps a token point in the corpse explosion trap along with the one point wonders on her.
These builds might alter depending on what I find and how things progress. What are you guys looking at using?
Well still in doubt, 2 days ago I was basically sure I would quit D2 the Sunder reverse means I’ll likely play.
Fireclaw was one of my favorites, but the completely messed up shaped combat (for everything except a number of Fury builds) in the previous patch so won’t be torturing myself playing it now, knowing what it was.
So still on the fence.
Will likely be Firedruid, Singer (end up making one every ladder so maybe start as one this time), Bowazon or Avenger.
But knowing myself it could just as well mean that while getting ready to roll a character I could change to random build at the last moment (well except Hammerdin or Blizzard, waiting for those to get nerved before playing again…yeah I know, I’ll never play them again )
Anyone played a Martial Arts Assa since the change?
Wondering whether is feels smoother now, felt clunky in the past.
Starter is going to be sorc, like usual, get her up to mid to late 80’s farming it up. I’ll scrape some gear together to make a hork barb. Then whatever other gear the RNG gods bless me with to make other classes if I have the time.
Well I cant not start a Orb/Hydra sorc and farm the sht out of TZ and bosses to build up the gear to get a Item Find Barb up and running next as soon as possible.
Id love to go something else but sometimes old faithful needs to work, difference is barb vs paladin this go around.
The Fire/summon bear can be fun, I’ve done one but I have focused more on armageddon/ravens as it offers far greater killing speed when it comes to large packs of mobs when you’re stuck in bearform (this build rocks in HC). Fireclaws is good vs bosses and maybe single target killing in p8, but that’s about it, one point is enough if you’re playing solo. I did 20 Ravens, 1 spirit, 1 werewolf, 20 bear and then focused the majority of the other points into armageddon and synergies, then I went around and used shockwave for the most part, to permastun enemies and keep my minions alive. It had ok overall damage and offered great physical/fire hybrid (sadly hybrids like this will die out now due to charms). It was a great build and utulized Ravenlore to it’s maximum potential. I do recommend if you’re playing HC without charms.
Not really, I still like D2, but these charms are basically the final straw in a line of disappointments by this dev team.
I still think they are the worst decision ever, even after the “nerf” and even if they would “nerf” the interaction with CM, which is saying something with these dev’s track record.
But it’s now in the play / don’t play phase and knowing myself this means I will start a new character in the new ladder.
Still think the game is in the worst state ever though.
