The essences he’s talking about are for making the Token of absolution. This is the way that you can respec again after you use your 3 from the game.
You need 4 different ones to make the token, and they are giving them away (probably the easy to obtain ones from Andy), so no… I wouldn’t say they have much if any value if they are not tokens.

essence of suffering are worth next to nothing because people farm Andariel so much that they just flood out everywhere. Suffering and Hatred are fairly common people want essence of Terror and Destruction, those are the harder ones to find
