Is a ring with 10% Casting a good choice, or do you prefer a higher resistance or attack rating?
Faster cast rate is good for casters. (Sorceress being the primary example)
Spells from casters always hit (if properly aimed of course), so attack rating is irrelevant.
Resistance is good to have… However instead of standing there like a stump and tanking hits, you can always:
1 - Kill the enemy before they can hurt you. (faster cast rate helps)
2 - Move out of the way of the attacks. (faster cast rate helps when considering teleport, however even a few steps at the right times works wonders dodging attacks.)
This helps me understand the attack better. Thanks.
It’s important to state that faster cast rate (and increased attack speed, faster hit recovery, etc) operate on break points that align with the game’s 25 frame per second engine.
At lower amounts, 10% faster cast rate will bump up your casting speed, but at higher amounts it may or may not, depending on whether your total amount exceeds the next break point value.
Here’s an example of faster cast rate (FCR) breakpoints for sorceress, so your first 10% FCR makes your casting speed go from 13 frames to 12 frames.
FCR → Frames
0% → 13
9% → 12
20% → 11
37% → 10
63% → 9
105% → 8
200% → 7
Thanks. Please excuse my introductory phase of learning.
Processing frames per second engine.
At least my Internet speed is 500 mb/sec.
Thanks!
Note that these frames don’t change with internet speed, the performance of your PC or graphics card, or anything else since it’s not a hardware restriction but it’s a game rule system. It will always be based on 25 frames per second ![]()
what Ona said is correct… the orginal base game ran at 25 frames per second static
that is what is running here… the upgraded 3d graphics is an overlay that can run at any FPS depending on your graphics… but the core game is based on the same 25 FPS you would see if u were to turn on legacy graphics
because of that there are only 25 frames in a second the original game uses, and since you cant have a fraction of a frame, there are tons of hidden values of what is needed to reach the next breakpoint… aka one frame faster
for sorceress all you really care about is going to be faster cast rate… and a small bit of faster hit recovery if u can squeeze some in, and in extremely rare cases faster block rate. but that’s more for pvp… to start out with only really worry about fcr
just keep in mind because of the breakpoint…
10 fcr reaches u 12 frames
20 reaches u 11
but there is no point on putting any more on less u can get passed that 37% breakpoint… so unless u can add 20 more to reach 40 fcr dont bother hitting 30 after 20 ( fcr can only be acquired in multiples of 10)
also keep in mind in some rare instances like lightning and chain lightning, use completly different breakpoints
it gets more in depth… and if u want a deep dive u can check out this link… but its not for beginners
Wow, thanks! It’s slowly coming to me. And that’s what makes it more interesting.
