You know, since D2 originally came out 22 or so years ago I’ve been playing it off and on. I was weird back then. I’d equip only items that looked cool even if a blue was worse than a rare, or even if were a white item in nightmare or something, I’d equip it over other weapons and armor because it “looked cool”.
As I got older I was of course equipping items that were better for my character. I use to play online with people and mainly chat, but if nobody was in my act or area I’d leave the game. I was…weird. I wouldn’t solo many areas. Sometimes I wouldn’t make it to Hell difficulty and I’d start another character for fun, or take a long break from the game.
Then in my adult years I mainly played single player, would look up builds then after beating Hell difficulty I would either stop playing and play other games, live life etc, or start another character.
I see a lot of people here that talk about end game runeword gear and end game gear, running the same areas over and over to get the best gear or runewords in the game. I never have done that…I find that kind of boring and at that point I’d rather just play another game.
Is the way you’re “supposed” to play Diablo games is to “nolife” end game and minmax? That’s not really what I feel like doing in games like these. Am I playing the game wrong? I welcome honest criticism. In person, I have a few friends that like games like these but they never did things like grind hell over and over to min max nor did they seem to care about that. I only see people in these online communities about Diablo that do things like that. This is why I ask if I’m playing the game wrong. Do a lot of you min max because you don’t have many other games to play as well? No shade, just wondering. I have tons of gaming backlog as well.
There is no “right or wrong”. You finished the game when you beat baal on normal difficulty, at least story wise. If you kill Diablo clone and Uber Tristram, then you have cleared all content.
But if you want to find all items then farming specific areas is key.
Multiplayer veterans are usually no longer playing for a play through, but rather for min/maxing and maybe for pvp.
i play for the rare item hunt, i seriously get goose bumps and start yelling and whatnot when i get those extra extra rare finds.
it’s not something you’d even realize as a play through player, but as a long time high lvl grinder, the super rare drops are just that, and finding them (without a bot) is extemely exciting to me. and that’s why i play diablo 2. and it’s the right way for me .
if you just enjoy competing the game and ending it that’s fine, but personally. i need more.
card games or chest…anything that force you to use your brain
pvp beat them up(like smash bros game serie)
be a pker
rpg or mmo with story telling…then its repeat of these once u clear them once
edit: other option goes to rl stuff
like sports…
construction designs(but require a lot of knowledge and gov allowance as well as money)
hole digging
research for tech
either way wtv you pick gonna be repetitive such is life
Play the game and don’t read any guides or anything about the game, imagine you just got it and you are playing a new game and nobody can help you with it.
Agree, because that is the same thing I did when I first un-packaged this game back in 2000, and installed all the disks.
I still take my character all the way through hell, completing all quests and killing all monsters - solo self found… before joining public games/trading.
I have 2 character in the game one is lvl93 the other lvl96, and I enjoy;
finding awesome gear, and dumping it on the ground in “free” games.
looking for “help” games, and helping others through content/quests.
running the bosses for exp., solo or with others.
searching/cubing runes/gems/skulls.
I think you should play the game in such a manner that it brings you enjoyment and relaxation.
It’s that differs from how I play, so be it.
I’m playing until I get that first unique sacred armor drop. Then I’m putting it in my stash, not identifying it and uninstalling. This way I can have Schrödinger’s Might.
the right way are repeating thousands same run to hope different result. (if you want to end game.)
some people find repeating samething over and over again without thinking are relaxing, if you google keyword “man nothing box” by mark gungor there a video. you will understand i hope
Oooh, here is another gold quote to remember you said when you post your next opinion topic on how the game should change to your own tastes lol…
But we already know if you didnt have double standards, you wouldnt have any standards.
The most important thing in life is to farm in search of that item that when you identify it you go backwards to the ground, your vision becomes cloudy, your legs tremble, you begin to convulse.
