I had the impression it was 30, but realized I was able to make 40+ characters.
Is there any limit anymore? ( Was there ever a limit on PC? )
Offline should not have a character limit, its just a tiny file on your PC. You can make as many as your harddrive can hold.

Remember though, we cant have unlimited character online because it takes too much space.

It actually could take too much space, because you could in theory create bots that make infinite number of characters to mess with the servers.
While i do think they should increase the limit from say, 20 to maybe 50, or 100. It should not be unlimited online.

Meh I don’t think anybody is really arguing for unlimited space. 50/100 is more than enough and most won’t use but 30/40. it was more of a joke on the fact that they claim we don’t need more than 20 and that space is expensive, but when it comes to our own PC’s we can somehow have UNLIMITED space.

Tbh, if offline had a limit of 50-100 but also allowed you to have your offline characters backed up, that would be even better. Unfortunately that would crash their servers if more than 20 online is already too much.
You can pop them all onto a flash drive tho?
Btw 20 online isn’t too much. Just some BS line they spewed. At one point in D2LOD in 2001 I had 100 accounts active and permed. Somehow the servers survived.
There is no limit for offline on pc, there is limit on consoles.
