What if runewords and/or uniques would change the dmg type as you can do in D3? That would open up for so much more options and builds!! ice fireball/meteor etc.
I never played D3 so you need to explain this better.
So… In diablo 3 you can choose different power/elemental type for each of your skills. No need to do anything, you just select what you want. But there the elenental type dont matter that much as it matters in d2.

Is there no skill tree? So kinda like no synergy and the damage is high enough to mix and match?
No skill tree, guess you could just check diablo3.com . Most of the damage comes from legendary items or sets what gives different powres for skills. Legendary items or sets may also change how these skills work or change elemental type like I said.
If I’m understanding this correctly. You’re suggesting to change the core of what makes d2 great. It’s itemization.
Reason ppl keep playing for years and returning is the rarity of items. Introduce power creep will only set it in a loophole.

That would be great too. What I was saying is what if future uniques/runewords change some skill elemental type (fire to cold for example) so we could have cold/freezing Fireball, things like this… in my option it could
be awesome!
If possible, the runeword/ unique would only be low-mid end tier. A sorc or endgame build will never touch it. Sorc mastery will have less power as endgame gear uses facet.
Seem like a solution to immunity before sunder. Sound fun as a playthrough.
