If I create a game, and a bunch of people join, but I have to leave. What happens to those people? Does the game stop for them immediately? Does the game keep going anyway?
I tried to find the info online but I can’t and want to make sure I’m following proper online etiquette when creating games.
It keeps going.
In fact, you can create a game, leave, and the server will stay up, even thought it is empty.
You can then rejoin with another character.
I did this to give my mules Horadric cubes

Thank you. How long until the empty server disappears? Do you know?
Unclear, but it seems to be several minutes.

Great. Thank you very much.
On classic, if you a room was open for at least 10 minutes, it would stay open even if it was empty for a certain amount of time. That part I don’t think anyone figured out for sure. Maybe it’s random. Dunno if D2:R is still doing it the same way.
So if you’ve been in a room you created for a while and you get kicked or something and reestablish connection, you can probably get back into that room so long as you remember the name and password. These rooms were also risky ways we transferred to mules or permed our duped items but all of that is unnecessary in D2:R

One more question while I’m thinking of it.
If I die once in multiplayer, and I leave and start a new single player game, will I have all my loot next to me on my body?
Yes you just click on your body.
But there can be complications with strength glitching . If you don’t know what that is you don’t have to worry about it though.
And only one of your corpses travels with you to a new game. So if you die multiple times in NM or Hell where there are exp penalties for dying, you won’t be able to recover all the corpses to recoup your xp if you join a new game
